I'm posting this for those of you who may have a hard time finding 100 proof vodka for making menthol drops. I seem to be sensitive to even the small amount of water present in lower proofs and gag like crazy. Then I thought, since I usually add a small amount of peppermint to my menthol mixes to cut that "Vics" taste, why not dissolve the menthol crystals in peppermint extract?" I added the crystals slowly over time until I had the taste I was after and ended up with an extremely concentrated menthol flavoring.

I've been vaping pure menthol juice for over two years. I make a lot of "menthol drops" and I never use alcohol. I fill a bottle nearly to the top with crystals and then add PG to fill to the top. The PG fills in the spaces between the crystals. I hold the bottle in my hand for a few minutes to warm it and shake periodically. Most of the crystals melt into the PG. I add additional crystals to top up the bottle and repeat the melting process. My goal is to always have some non-melted crystals in the bottle. That ensures that my PG is always fully saturated with menthol.

To use, I shake, let the crystals settle, then draw off mentholated PG from the top with a syringe. As the PG is used, I top up with more menthol crystals and a little shot of PG. Eventually, you get the feel of how much PG vs crystals to add to keep some undissolved crystals in the bottle.

This works great for me and no alcohol involved.
