Menthol drops ?

Anyone know what's in the menthol drops? I've tried making them by dissolving menthol crystals in PG but as soon as it hits room temp, it re-crystalizes. I've also been finding white hard residue in my cartridge filler which doesn't make me very comfortable inhaling it....

Maybe I should just get LorAnns Creme De Menthe...

Juicyliquid has menthol drops for sale, and they work great. I've been using them for a few weeks, and haven't seen any buildup problems because of them.

I think a lot of people are using grain alcohol to dissolve the crystals (190 proof).
You should ask Jaaxx over in the Juicy Liquid forum. He will know for sure.

Yeah, I looked at those. I'm just wondering what the base is (assuming crystals are the menthol source) that it doesn't re-crystalize?

The label says they are 66% menthol, and 34% ethanol.

Odd, I got some peppermint crystals and dumped them in my homebrew vanilla using a bit of vodka, PG and VG and they have yet to recrystalize (going on 3 days now). Had to hit the mix with about 5 seconds in the microwave to get them to melt though.

One thing I learned was a LITTLE of those goes a VERY LONG way . I should have enough for the next 50 years if all I vape is menthol .

It didn't re-crystalize in my juice...probably too small an amount. However, the glass that I mixed the stuff in had a crystalized menthol coating on it after it cooled down...which is really weird. I think someone mentioned alcohol for dissolving, so maybe that's the ticket?

Possibly, Just checked my recipe and I used 0.5mL/10 drops of generic vodka.

I also used 3 VERY small pieces in the 5mL batch (good, but whew!). Chunks were probably 1/8" long by about that wide, perhaps somewhat smaller.

Wonder what else I could use? I have no hard liquor in my house at all. A few wine coolers and bottles of wine lying around from Christmas and some cooking wine. That's about it.

They work great, but I made the mistake of trying a drop on my cart to test it out. Talk about mega-menthol! It took days to get the flavor out of my atomizer, so make sure you dilute this stuff well!

It certainly did not cause build up - if anything it seemed to clean the atomizer out a bit.

I think they all have xylitol in them. Xylitol causes ........ and gas so I'm not sure I'd want to be vaping it in any amount. Probably lots of other chemicals in there too....

And if I don't want to use vodka, could I use 15mL of PG will it dissolve and not recrystallize? How long should that last me? 1/4 oz. of crystals in 15mL of PG?

Before I got my hands on the crystals, I bought a bottle of mint extract. I added that to my god awful chinese flavor ejuice. Other than making the juice a little darker, it tastes almost like my mint flavor juice. When the crystals arrived, I added that to the extract & juice mix and it doesn't recrystallize at all.

Just be careful not to add too much -- I used 2 little pieces for 15ml.
