hey tumbleweed, does it have a throat hit or is it like smoking air?

Not sure on the throat hit as only the Nic versions usually have this. My Zero Menthol from Jane is excellent though :thumb: Mix in a little tobacco and it even kind of tastes Piney ... Like a tree ... Weird at first but I have learned to love it :)

My strongest menthol experiments so far....this version is strong enough to give a long aftertaste of menthol and lots of vapors...but I think you guys(and gals) will have trouble sourcing the raw igredients because one of the main solvent needed is homemade.....

First of all get a 5ml eyedropper bottle and fill it up with (at least half) menthol crystals which is available commercially at the pharmacy...and then filled it up to 5ml of homemade alcohol(mine made from rice..) or some people will use ethanol(white wine)...aloow the alcohol to dissolve the menthol crystals with occassional shaking of the bottle....once it is fully dissolved if left standing will separate into 2 layers...the top clear layer will be menthol liquid and the lower will be alcohol....but can only be used if it is mixed into a murky solution...now mixed it to e-liquids of your choice (my preference is Flue-cured Tobacco and homemade Menthol at the ratio of 3:2)...

I hope you all can try it out..the strength of the menthol kick is depending on your mix ratio..happy trials...cheers...:)

Stev, no it doesn't have a great throat hit but very very minty tasting. I think had I gotten some with nicotine it may have a throat hit. I was thinking of mixing it with the JC Artic mint I have and see how that is. I'm a little afraid to mix my own stuff so I probably won't do what jim is talking about although I bet it would work.

Windblown, I went back to bickfords website thinking maybe I was missing something but all I see are either water soluble or oil soluble not any choice for the propylene glycol. I know that you were looking for menthol flavor that would be strong enough. How is the pepermint flavor hit? Is it staisfying your menthol kick or no?

Don't waste your money on the Bickfords. JC juice has more menthol flavor than smoking pure Bickfords peppermint. And JC juice has the weakest menthol I have found. Menthol crystals have to be the way to go. They will disolve in oil, alchohol, and warm water. I'm thinking, boil some water, turn it off, insert a bottle of e-liquid, leave for 5 minutes until warm, add crystals to taste. Since menthol crystals are what they use for menthol cigarettes this has to be the solution. It is nice for these suppliers to offer a bazillion flavors, but how about getting one right.

I have tried Doc's suggestion, but with water.

I used a small dropper bottle, added hot water, a few menthol crystals, dissolved and added to my DIY batch. I still have to play around with getting the ratio correct. Now sure yet how strong I want the menthol flavor. I have also added a few drops to my flue-cured and was pleased with the flavor.

I will have to try the alcohol mix now.

I do have to say my sinuses have never been clearer as they are when I am mixing this stuff. :)

is there any carts or e-liquids that are a Strong menthol that will give me that feeling or am I just kidding myself?

I am a menthol JUNKY and I too think that nicotine is the easy part to quit compared to the menthol. I can't guarantee that I know what you are specifically looking for, but I just ordered a bottle of "Minty Menthol" from PureSmoker and I think it is really quite good. It even makes my water feel slightly cooler if I drink while vaping.

I should mention however I have only tried one other kind in comparison so my opinion is based solely on my desire for a nice cool menthol, and not on product experience. The previous menthol I had was TERRIBLE, as was the Ecig.

It tastes a bit like mint gum. Which is nice, although is does make me want to chew gum! :p

Good luck!

How did you do that and what do you mean by safe? Menthol crystals melt at 115f so it should be no great shakes to get it to dissolve in e-juice. I plan to mix a batch super strong then add some to another bottle until the flavor is right.

By safe I mean as safe as food is. Now I'm not competent to actually tell it is as safe but at least you will be more safe than if you do not do these calculations. I'm certainly expecting to be relatively safe by following jecfa's recommendations. These are about food flavoring not inhaling vapor but nevertheless should give good guidelines when judging what is safe.

I wouldn't add menthol just by how it tastes, because, well it doesnt have a taste.

You may be right about the taste. I'll have to try. That is why I ordered some super strength mint oil too. Somethings got to work.

OK, I finally got to my laboratory today. I mixed 1 tsp menthol crystals with 1 tsp 153 proof alcohol (Diesel). Stirred it a lot until the crystals disssolved. Then I added 1 tsp VG and 2 tsp Bickford's peppermint. Dripped it and WOW - great menthol hit. My sinuses are clear. The only thing is there was a little crackling sound. Don't know if it killed the battery or if it just needed a recharge. Anybody know how much liquid that has the viscosity of water or alcohol can you add to PG or VG base before it gets too runny to kill the battery? (Battery started blinking, but I don't think it's totally dead because it still lights up.) Anyway I'm recharging the battery and will try again later. In my experiment I added one part of the runny stuff to 3 parts of the thick stuff. I think I'm close, but I hope it didn't kill the battery.

Since I mixed up such a large quantity, I didn't want to throw it out. I added 2 more tsp of peppermint Bickford's and 1 tsp Creme-de-Menthe Bickford's. Works just fine - vapor production is good and I got no more crackling sound. Viscosity seems to be good and taste isn't bad, but I want to taste a little sweetness. I'm thinking of getting some liquid Stevia to add to this concoction. So now my proportions are 1 part runny stuff to 5 parts thick stuff.

LOL ...

Playing is the funnest part though, I must admit. The gratification felt when you make something good and to your liking is an awesome feeling !!!

I only made my own concoction once ... Scared the crap out of me when I got some on my hand and started having hott flashes/sweats. It didn't last long, but the taste and hit was intense!!!! LOL

Good luck!

Received my menthol crystals today. Being cautious I placed 1 menthol crystal in about 1ml of e-juice. It did not dissolve but I didn't expect it to. I heated some water in the microwave and placed my drip bottle with the menthol crystal in it. After a minuit or so I removed it and shook the bottle. The crystal disolved. This step was important to me as I need all the nicotine I can get and didn't want to have to dilute my juice with alcohol and such to get my menthol kick. Dripped a couple of drops onto my atomizer and took a long hit.:thumb: Bingo. That is what I have been looking for. Seems the juices I have tried have been all about the mint flavoring and not the menthol. I can tell a definite difference in flavor and smoothness. The back of the throat hit on my juices usually chokes me if I draw too hard. Now I can take a really big hit like I used to with JC juice but it has FLAVOR. I'm dizzy right now I have been puffing so much :D

Brian's idea really makes sense, since you don't have to worry about getting too much thin liquid in your mix. If you dilute with alcohol, you have to be careful about getting the final mixture too thin. It also decreases the nic level. Also, if you find a tobacco flavor you like, you don't have to mess around with adding tobacco flavoring/essences. Just be careful and don't add too much menthol crystal. A little goes a long way. And if you use too much menthol, that's all you'll be able taste/sense. Althouh your sinuses will be very well cleared out! :)

Thanks Janet. And your breath will stay minty fresh all day LOL. I mixed up a batch in a 10ml bottle using Jane's juice and put too much menthol in. Ended up cutting it by 50 percent with new juice three times before I got it down to something reasonable. It really really doesn't take mutch of this stuff to add flavor to juice. Mix a small amount and slowly add it to a bigger bottle while tast testing. Been at it three days with my mix and haven't had any atomizer problems. Threw all my oil based mint flavorings away and never bothered to try them. My only problem now is I smoke faster than my cart can recharge my atomizer so I have to keep switching atomizers LOL.
