Well, the two portable PVs I use the most are Prodigy and Chuck and they both look like I imagine a pipe bmb would look (but I've never seen one so don't know for sure). The stick looks to me more like a MP3 player or portable drive or something.

I'll take a better look at the Ego too. At first look it reminded me little of a fountain pen. It would be great to see a picture of Ego next to a fountain pen to see the difference in size.

I didn't have a problem at the airport yet, but now and in very near future the security checks will be much tighter mainly because of the "underwear" attacker fiasco.

Two more questions about the stick V3:

1. Is the USB connection that plugs into V3 standard mini-connector that would allow people to use their own USB cable instead of the cable that ships with the unit?

2. Does the USB passthrough functionality allow vaping if there is no battery installed in the stick V3?

Thanks.

1. Yes

2. No

OK you got me I can't wait for the stick V3...
Can the stick be used while plugged in and charging? and does it come with a car adapter?

Yes. While plugged in, you are still drawing your vaping power from the battery, but keeping it plugged in keeps the battery charges while vaping. Sort of a "built in" passthrough. You can charge in the var with a 12v lighter adapter with a USB slot to plug your cord in to. You can get a good one at Walgreens for $7.

It has no "passthrough functionality'... period. It simply has an internal charger.

Does too. :)

It'll act like a passthrough if there's a battery installed. Doesn't work if there's no battery.

The V2 allows the use of pretty much any mini USB cable, I imagine the V3 is the same.
It will act like a battery charger, it isn't passing through anything, it's passing into the battery. If it was a passthrough it wouldn't need a battery.

Some consider "true" passthru as giving you the full 5volts from the usb port. Sticks don't do that, the usb just continually charges the batt keeping it up around 4.2volts.
What's to consider, is it firing up the atty.... nope.

That would depend on the internal charging rate and vaping habits. Ask someone with Joye's so-called 510 passthrough if it's outputting a steady 4.2V.

The reason Janty / Joye uses a battery while performing the "passthrough" is that its safer.

with no battery you can overload your computers USB ports - or the PV itself - in rare cases this could lead to shortcircuits, even fires. This wont happen on any Janty PV due to the battery being in the loop.

So while not being "full" passthrough, it is alot safer and performing the function you need ( charging, or vaping on power ).. and thats the most important thing isnt it ? =)

If building your own batt/passthru, you'd best consider how it's being done since you need to use a different circuit and wiring for one vs. the other.

I used "around" and not "steady" for a reason :D

All of the problems with Heavens-gifts was a huge miscommunication error - but now everything is settled, and if you buy it from them and add the shipping charge you will end up at the same price as we are charging - plus you might get caught in customs from heavens-gifts, and you will be under their warranty and customer service, and not ours.

So - its a free choice for you - but i know what i would pick ;)
