Metal tube for DIY mod?

So I was thinking, if you owned some basic metal working equipment, it would be pretty easy to brew up some cool aluminum tubes for building your own tube mod. Drill hole for switch, toss on some threading, add some cool looking grooves etc. There has to be someone out there selling these right?
I know madvapes used to do this but with acrylic.

I'd love to see some cheap diy method of adding threading to tubing. (I played around with using a shampoo bottle cap and threads, but it made a pretty bulky solution)

EDIT: I really like your avatar, it reminds me of another where the stick-figure man beats his face to a bloody pulp on his keyboard, and I'm imagining yours as the same, but leary of his last encounter! haha

Lol, tossing on some threads? You would need a lathe or a large tap and die. Adding grooves you would need a lathe for any accuracy at all? It really is purdy simple!!

PS: hardware stores will carry enough pipe or round bar for you to start tossing things together!! It shouldn't take you very long. Can't wait to see your creation!

If you can find someone who recycles laser toner cartridges, inside most laser toners there is a part called a 'drum'. The drum is mainly an aluminum tube with coating on the outside. This coating can be sanded off fairly easily. A good size drum can be found in a HP 35A, 36A, 78A, or 85A.......these drum are the closely sized to fit a battery the diameter of an 18650. Toner cartridges are fairly easy to take apart (I work in laser remanufacturing).
