Hi all,
Not having the funds for a legit Stillare, I picked up a clone (Infinite or Tobeco I believe) from my local B&M. It truly is a great rda. The problem is that despite thorough and repeated cleaning, it's still giving off an odd metallic taste. I'm using the same juice, wire, and wicking materials I've used before so the issue is definitely in the unit itself. I love this little thing, but I'm concerned that perhaps it was manufactured with impure materials our something. Anyone have any similar experiences with problems like this?

Thanks so much in advance for any input, my friends :)

I use a tooth brush and tooth paste to clean all my rba's before the first build, Authentic and clones, but the Authentic ones rarely need it, but better great vape than having to break it down and yanking a build. Tooth brush is great for cleaning out the threads, rinses great with hot water and leaves a minty breath, lol.

So surprised to hear that .. I just picked up a Stillare by Tobeco, and it didn't require much cleaning at all, it had only the faintest scent of machine oil. Hand with Dawn and it was good to go ... been vaping on it since Friday, no issues. Could it be the drip tip you are using??

Yeah, visually the thing was pretty much devoid of the usual machining gunk I usually find on clones, with the exception of an iridescent sheen covering most of the surface. That was gone after the first Dawn wash tho. I thought about the drip tip so I used another instead puff the one that came with the unit, but same unsavory result. The taste doesn't really come across like oil to me... more like what I get off of a dry hit on stainless mesh. It actually kinda tastes like what I imagine sucking on two nickels, a dime, and penny would be like :-(

i had the same issue with my stiilare clone, i typically soak all my drippers over night in everclear and it removes all the machine oil residue as well as the sheen left behind from manufacturing. any update on the boil, toothpaste, orange clean process. :vapor:

Sorry I forgot to update here, but the news is good. After being orange cleaned, toothpasted and thrice boiled the stillare is completely free of any off tastes :) Big thanks to all for your input and advice. I definitely appreciate it.
