I'm running a nice tight 1.7 ohm 12 wrap 28g kanthal coil on a kayfun clone and I'm having issues with cotton ball wicks burning through shortly after the prime drops vape off some. Same set up in a protank coil doesn't have this problem. I'm not getting dry hits but I can taste the cotton burning. I've tried peaches and cream as well and get the same issue. Its my first attempt with a kayfun so I know I have to be missing something. Too much wick maybe? Covering the juice channels not letting enough flow in? BTW I did follow Rips vid.

Ike, make sure the wick isn't too thick, thinner is better (I'm sure you already checked this). When I build on my Kayfun, I build the coil on a diagonal to the deck as opposed to perpendicular, so that if the wick was cut to the length of just touching the channel deck it would be touching next to the channels instead of on the channels (make sense?). I also tend to leave the wicks longer than needed, slip the collar without the chimney over them and pull them out the top and then cut them close to even with the top of the collar. I then push them down into the collar with a pair of tweezers and lay then along the side of the deck. if you could see through the collar it would look something like this:

A little wordy of a reply but hopefully this makes sense and helps out. wick3.jpg

Well I'm not having much luck with this clone but I like the kayfun concept. WHen I get this to hit it hits really good but there are some issues with it. Can't get good liquid flow even with 100%pg to keep the wick fed and I have already tried dremeling out the feed channels. I have to almost completely close off the air flow to get good juice feed. I guess I just got a bad clone (yiloong).

I'd like to try an original kayfun but don't have the $100+ atm so a good clone is what I'm looking for unless someone has a used Sovoemesto original Kayfun Lite + they would sell me reasonable :p

^I'm sure when the kayfun 4 comes out... whenever that happens... there week be many trying to sell their current versions.

I have eh pros.. never tried fast tech atomizers.. issues with tobeco kayfuns.

I don't see how you'd have issues like that though.. the only issues with clones is that you don't know metals used, and quality control is non- existent with the lower end companies. You should at least having it work properly, if you're not springing any leaks and you followed the many instructions on ecf, like bikeface provided.

You mentioned dremeling the wick wells. Are the wells unified where they meet on deck and base? Can you provide a picture? I had to file out wick wells with a tobeco 91.

I took it completely apart and found several issues with the build quality. The smallest being that the air hole in the center post screw was put too low blocking some air flow but due to the juice well issue it didn't cause flooding like it should have. O-rings are too thin so it leaks at the mating threads if not really tight. The Juice wells are the worst. The cuts didn't even meet before I started reworking them choking flow unless I damn near completely close the air vent. Cuts are about half the size of an original Svoemesto(measured using a few pics I found) on the base and the verticals barely went past the threads on the coil deck. I could tell a cutting wheel was used instead of a round grinding or cutting bit and it actually matched the size cuts my 3/8 diameter mini cut off wheels for my dremel would make.

Based on the pics I have seen of the EH Pro version the specs are virtually identical to the original so I'm going to order one and give it a shot while I save up for a real one.

You won't be disappointed with the EHPro clone, Ike. I have a couple of them myself, and the build quality is very good as well as the performance. Almost identical to the original once those threads break in, and I can't tell the difference vaping it.

I also have an EHPRO I bought for 38 dollars (after coupon code). I have had no problems with it at all.

I have the EHPRO KFL Plus and it is working very well for me. However, I just ordered the BE KFL Plus from Custom Mods because of the
Air Hole size (2mm) and the outstanding recommendations from EFC members. You might take a look at it. Just saying!! Here is the site:http://www.custommodcreation.com

WEll I have given up on the yiloon clone for now. THe problems with it ended up being poor machining, wrong size tank o-rings, no oring on the top part of the chimney, chimney too short and not getting a good seal at the drip tip end as well as non food grade steel parts. I stopped in a local smoke shop on a whim and was able to get a H-Cigar clone for $20 (discounted display model) that was only missing the optional clear tank. The difference is worlds apart. I just finished the first tank full of 100% vg OJ Jones and vaped the tank dry with not one bad hit until the last one when the wick had nothing left in it. Fit and finish on this one is really good. I'll be picking up an eh-pro as well to compare and eventually an original.

I can see why people rave about these tanks.

I've watched about 20 different vids on the Kayfun, as I was having the same wicking issues. A very helpful member of ECF suggested this particular video for a set up that has worked for them. Following this direction, I've been through two tanks...flawlessly. Not even close to a dry hit. Hope this helps!
