Hi guys,

So I have a kayfun clone which has been great. Never had issues. I use a 1.0 ohm coil with some cotton. I tuck the cotton to the walls, give lots of room for the juice to come up the channels.

Now I got a Russian 91%. I noticed the channels are slightly bigger than the kayfun clone. I do the exact exact same build as my kayfun and all I am getting is dry hits.

I've tried 3 times. Driving me nuts.

Any ideas? One guy said instead of putting the cotton against the walls, simply put the chimney on first and then pat down the cotton.

Need feedback thanks!

I use silica but I snip away most of the tails and tuck it down along the floor after putting on the barrel. I fill mine all the way to the top. If it hit a touch dry, put your finger over the air intake and draw suction and remove your finger. This will pull a bit more liquid into the wicks.

I build my coils at a sharper angle to the stage; so that, when the wick comes out of the coil it is easier to loop turn it under and along the side of the stage.
Could still be easily done with a perpendicular coil. Use a longer wick (thinner if needed to fit), bring it to the right as it comes out of the coil and do a 180 turn under and run it parallel to the stage with the end of the wick facing left.

I solved this by one simple trick:

I trim the wick to the exact length of the bottom deck (inside the chimney)

You don't want a big fluffy wad down there either. There should be a little space to either side of the cotton in the chimney.

I have both, and both hit the same for me, other than the Russian doesn't like being filled till it's spitting at you.

It is all in the build.........................but not always.

All Kayfun/Russian and BCC tanks need an air pocket to establish negative pressure. Normally over filling leads to Flooding, not dry hits.
Everyone thinks they build the perfect wick/coil(me included) but the fact is the exact same on (a) may not work on (b)

Op, you said the Russian has bigger channels. I assume you mean the horizontal cuts as they are most obvious to see. What about the Vertical channels with the chimney section on. Are you sure they have a decent gap? I have actually seen a few that had NO vertival cuts.(missed in production)
