I finally had all the goodies to make a micro coil, and it was quite a challenge. I am using Kanger Mini Protank IIs, so trying to fit the coil in there can be a pain, but with a huge magnifying glass (Harbor Freight Helping Hands w/ LED light) it wasnt too bad.

As far as the exact resistance, I think I'm around 2 ohms, 'cuz my HF ohm meter is kinda wonky. Maybe it needs a new battery.

I used 30g kanthal wire, 10 wraps on a 5/64ths drill bit I found at Home Depot.

Next I suppose I need a decent torch instead of my old cigarette lighter, but I guess it felt lonely so I used it.

I used some CVS sterile cotton as a wick, and made sure to soak it properly before putting this all back together.

Loaded up some Ahlusion 12mg Blueberry-Vanilla Cake juice and...WOW! This really works!!

This link is where I got most of my info on what I was doing for a micro-coil. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrvwOf13U-s

If I can do it, then anyone can. I guess I need more tanks now, I just have to decide what would be a nice rba tank for me. The Mini IIs are a tad bit tiny, and maybe a real rba would be easier to put the coils in. Anyone have some suggestions?

I am running my microcoils at 1.8ohm right now with cotton. I do a 5/4 wrap of 32ga kanthal on a 20ga blunt tip needle. Small coil in length, but it works. Out of my other kanthal sizes right now.

Anyway. I use the needle to insert the coil. Then I roll my cotton and feed the small end into the needle. Remove the needle and use the end that comes through with the needle to pull the rest of the cotton in. Works like a champ for me.

Good work. I've been having such fantastic results with CVS rolled cotton that I haven't even so much as contemplated silica.

Like muzichead said, it is a little large in diameter but if you are diggin it, that's what is important :). If you want to try to dip into micro territory, here is a little vid that can take you through it start to finish without any extraneous jargon:

And here's another where basic RBA building and principals are discussed as well as tuning the build for maximum satisfaction / efficiency:
