Hey guys, I have been recoiling my clearos for awhile, I stuck to 32 gauge to make a 6 wrap 2.4 ohm coil. Needless to say this just isn't cutting it on my Reomizer rba.

What guage Kanthal do I need to make a 10 wrap 1.8 - 2.0 ohm microcoil for my Reomizer?

Not interested in sub ohm, but I am curious on going lower. Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks!

Damn it Carl :) Here's a micro coil chart :)

30 ga is great - try 10 wraps around something that is 1/16". :)

After doing some research I've discovered that the average North American porcupine quill is approximately .050 inches in diameter. Almost smak dab in the middle of the micro coil range. It only makes sense that the REO/RM2 would function as well with a coil constructed of a similar diameter. This is a bit more than just a coincidence me thinks and gives possible insight into how the REO was design and developed.

What an idea! A Quill sent with every RM2!

You will probably have much better results with the 1/16". Too small can vape as lame as too big. The trouble with too small is wicking :).
I did, just made another one, double wire and used the small needle to push the wick through, it's at 1.2 ohms.

I see some coils with wraps spread out, nicely spaced and then others where they are all tightly packed and touching, what's the difference?

IMO the spread out wrapped coils are like old school pushrod v8s from back in the day - they get the job done but lack efficiency, tech and polish.

The small diameter touching wraps coils (micro coils) are like a modern turbocharged direct injected high compression V8. Gobs more power, quicker response and much more efficient.

A proper micro coil will produce a vape of similar warmth to an old school coil of roughly half the resistance. This means if you like 1 ohm old school coil, build yourself a 2 ohm micro for starters then go from there :)
