Perhaps the origins of astrology has more to it than what we've been told. In fact, I wonder how many astrologers actually know what I'm now coming to believe it actually is about. I'm not talking about how it developed into astronomy as we know it today, although that is cool and where I usually stopped with it previous to what I'm now learning about.

Every year, the Earth passes through several meteor streams on a regular basis. Take the Taurid meteor stream that we pass through twice a year as just one example. It's even theorized that the Tunguska event in Russia may have been from the Taurid meteor stream since it happened during the June time frame that these occur. Also note that our Halloween and the Mexican Day of the Dead, as well as many other cultures with similar traditions from around the world, also fall during the fall portion of that same meteor stream. I know I can't think of a better possible explanation than why so widely dispersed cultures have similar traditions than that of a world wide catastrophic event such as a meteor or comet collision with Earth.

I'll throw out another theory that is now quickly gaining traction with the scientists that are not stuck on the proverbial accepted theories of gradual change is the standard. The last ice age came to a close on what they call the "Younger Dryas Event" ( named after the scientist that identified it ). The theory that is put forth says that the only logical cause for something that could melt the huge ice caps of almost 3 miles thick and do it as rapidly as it appears to have happened is a meteor or comet impact on the ice sheet. What we do know for a fact... the glaciers melted within a thousand or a few hundred years ( if not quicker ). The megafauna ( ie huge animals such as the Woolly Mammoth, saber tooth tiger etc ) were completely wiped out ( current theory has a few thousand hunter/gather humans being responsible for the death of millions of the megafauna, ridiculous when you think of that actually ) . With the melting of such a large amount of ice, the land that once harbored it would have rebound up and the seas rose 400 foot from where they were and that would press down on where the oceans are.

That theory would better explain the disappearance of the megafauna. It would also account for the numerous myths/legends of a great flood found in cultures around the world... And it may even explain the legend of Atlantis since it is said ( by Plato ) to have happened at about that same timeframe between 12,800 - 11,600 years ago.

What else would this help explain astrology better... The actual reasons that places such as Stonehenge ( and many other places made to precisely track the heavens ) were actually built... so they could track time precisely and possibly predict the next cycle of disaster.

If you're still not sure about the cycles of disaster ... This video lays it out using both scientific information we know about catastrophic disasters and overlays them with some astrology to give it context in regards to the cycles that seem to happen.

If you want more info about the Younger Dryas event ... this explains it pretty well with most of it not being argued among the scientists ...

The Intriguing Problem Of The Younger Dryas—What Does It Mean And What Caused It?.

The temperature charts shown in the above link, should also point out some important info concerning the current now political topic of global warming/climate change. Most certainly humans do impact the climate, I don't think that is what the argument is about. How great of an impact we've had is where people get into conflict on. The "climate believers" would have you believe that all climate change is caused by humans... ignoring any natural trends that seem to be evident in the geological record.

If you look at the charts, look at the end of the "Little Ice Age" ( btw... technically, it wasn't a real ice age, that is just the nickname it's been given ). If humans are the only cause of climate change, why did the Little Ice Age glaciers start receding before our industrial age even got started? Also note, that the Earth was much warmer after the Younger Dryas event happened and up until the Medieval Warm period.

No doubt, we've got to start becoming more ecologically friendly and help conserve this Earth we all share. At the same time, don't fall for the dire predictions that the current trend of politically motivated "climate believers" would have you believe. Let's get off of fossil fuels and trashing the Earth... but also be realistic and ignore the naysayers that are blaming all of the climate changes we will see on just human causes.

Redsock, kudo's to you my friend. You're thoughts are in fact correct and it's time to make some changes. Only God knows when this will actually occur but you are so spot on. Thank you for voicing this post  He is smiling on you right now.
What do you think will happen when it happens Redsock ?
