We are home!!!He is doing better.Still confused but getting there.We are having issues getting a visiting nurse to do wound care and he has alot of wounds.Seven deep cuts in his legs,the chest wound and 2 big holes from the chest tubes.Looks like I may have to do it and it kinda scares me.Its really yucky,LOL!Ill do whatever it takes.We are just glad to be home.
Oh how wonderful Keyzy !! Yep...changing dressings can be icky !...(but you can also see for yourself that they are healing properly !)

Yay, you're home...that's good news. I'm with you on the yucky stuff! But it is amazing that we can do what we have to do. Here's hoping to his quick recovering!!!!
Keyzy, get a bed or pillow wedge..they can be found at medical stores...sometimes smaller ones at Wal-mart. It makes getting in and out of bed easier. It really hurts those musles and stiches to try to sit up from a prone position. Mike missed that automatic bed!
Wound care is a snap. The ones I hated were the legs..not the chest. You do need to watch for hernia's..look where the rib cage starts..just above the stomach. Mike's looked like that button that pops out after the turkey is done..except his popped out after dinner! Stop eatting fool! Can't you see you are DONE!
Make sure he walks around the house and after a day or so..outside! Moving is the only way he will heal.

We are doing good and the nurse is going to come 2x a week.She showed me how to change the bandages,so its all good.My only problem is his confusion and aggitation.He seems to get an idea and start to panic about it and then become angry.I told him the nurse was on her way and security was escorting her to the house,I ran into the bathroom and he called the head of security and said they wouldnt let his nurse on base,he was flippin out.I was like OMG!!what did you do!!She is on her way here.I told you that.Then I had to explain it to security when they got here.They were a little mad,but they understood.Its crazy.Then he walked out the door and started going down the street.I hope it gets back to normal soon or I may need a babysitter!!LOL!I had no idea he would be so confused for this long.I thought he would start coming out of it by now.
I'm glad he's home Kezy. Suunds like you have your hands full at the moment, but hopefully being in familiar surroundings will help him get reoriented more quickly.
Girl...I feel for you! Mike had memory problems and still does from all the damn drugs. But he never had confusion. Have you talked to the Dr.? You cannot be awake 24 hours a day to watch him..it's not reasonable. I still say it's one of his meds that needs to be ajusted.
I made an appointment to see the doc about meds and if that could be the cause.Ive cut the percocet to 1 tab instead of 2 to see if it helps.Thank you so much for all your help MK.Your wonderful.
Side effects
Main side effects of oxycodone[65]
The most commonly reported effects include euphoria, memory loss, constipation, fatigue, dizziness, nausea, lightheadedness, headache, dry mouth, anxiety, pruritus, and diaphoresis.[66] It has also been claimed to cause dimness in vision due to miosis. Some patients have also experienced loss of appetite, nervousness, abdominal pain, ........, ischuria, dyspnea, and hiccups,[18] although these symptoms appear in less than 5% of patients taking oxycodone. Rarely, the drug can cause impotence, enlarged prostate gland, and decreased testosterone secretion. Compared to morphine, oxycodone causes less respiratory depression, sedation, pruritus, nausea, and euphoria.[67] As a result, it is generally better tolerated than morphine.[68]
In high doses, overdoses, or in patients not tolerant to opiates, oxycodone can cause shallow breathing, bradycardia, cold, clammy skin, apnea, hypotension, miosis (pupil constriction), circulatory collapse, respiratory arrest, and death.[18]

There is a high risk of experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms if a patient discontinues oxycodone abruptly. Therefore therapy should be gradually discontinued rather than abruptly discontinued. People who use oxycodone in a hazardous or harmful fashion are at even higher risk of severe withdrawal symptoms as they tend to use higher than prescribed doses. The symptoms of oxycodone withdrawal are the same as for other opiate based painkillers and may include "anxiety, nausea, insomnia, muscle pain, muscle weakness, fevers, and other flu like symptoms."[69]
Withdrawal symptoms have also been reported in newborns whose mothers had been either injecting or orally taking oxycodone during pregnancy.[70]

Keyzy, we gotta stick together. I thought I was alone in dealing with Mike all those years ago..and to be honest, by choosing to live 100 miles from home I was. I hope you feel by sharing here..that you are not alone.

Still confused huh? Have they checked his O2 Saturation? I have My drug Cards out I'm gonna scan it for ya hon gimme a few min I'll have it up very soon OK.
Ok Got it up & yes it can cause some confusion. If you can open it & blow it up to read it all if ya need any other drugs lemme know, I gotcha covered ladies.
They gave him percocet and clonazepam along with his heart,BP,and cholesterol meds.I think its just to much.I am only giving him 1 percocet instead of 2 but its still seems to be an issue.Im going to ask about lowering the clonazepam to 1/2 a pill each dose.

Uh yeah that may be a bit much... Your doing great hang in there Hun.
I'm guessing the problem is going to be with the clonazepam rather than the percocet. Keyzy if they can't give you an appointment rather quickly, I'd ask for a telephone consult with the doc and explain what's going on. You're both in my prayers.
