Finally got a working DNA200 mod

Glad you are vaping on your 200. It is a chunky box, but at least we had some enclosures close to the chip release. Mine has grown on me...

Now that we have a chip in-hand, it may be time for a more refined approach. I do need to add a metal band on the bottom of mine as it is not holding up well in the beer bottle opening department.

Well I ordered a new battery, while I wait to get the other one sorted with Hobby King. I know I'm really really late to the party here. I've been caught up with other things that took too much of my attention to stay up on the other thread and this one, until now. Could someone tell me what the clear brown tape is I've been seeing around the balance connectors on some builds? Thanks everyone.

thank you. I assume this is to isolate the connections, preventing interference, to promote accuracy in readings?

I am no expert...Mike can elaborate, I just consider it really good electrical tape. It sticks well and is cheapish and takes heat better than your average tape.

You're 100% right. My oldest son and I worked on it last night building the DNA200 in a box you designed, and we were SO IMPRESSED with how accurately everything is layed out. He has a Asgard DNA40 (well it started as a DNA30 but anyways) box, which is kind of like a Hammond 1550p box, but its custom for them (at least I'm guessing it is?) and one of the coolest things inside the Asgard box is it has a little ridge under the screen cutout to align the screen height (not left or right, just height) but that was so cool to us when we upgraded that box from DNA30 to DNA40... so when we built the BRD1300 box last night, the screen ridge (cradle?) aligned the screen PERFECTLY without even trying! I can't tell you how impressed we both were with that. And the battery door lock..... Like I said - BRILLIANT.:smokie:

Kapton Tape is actually made out of a type of Nylon. Its main characteristics are high heat resistance (about 750F) and is a good electrical dielectric. It is also light and thin compared to other electrical tapes.

Its main downsides are that it is not very good at abrasion resistance when under heavy vibration, and it ages quickly in adverse environments.

Being a nylon, it adheres well to nylon and ABS very well, hence it popular in the 3D printer circles.

If you want some budget kapton tape here's the ebay listing where I got a 10mm wide by 100 foot long roll for $4 delivered and it got here in four days. You may also want wider tape, but for the money it's a steal and a cheap addition to the supply drawer. Actually I was glad I got the thinner tape, it was perfect for re-wrapping a lipo I modified. :)

Wish I could take pics of this thing without the horrible screen glare

I wonder if you dimmed the screen, maybe that would get rid of it?

ETA: Make sure your lens is super clean and free of lint, if a camera lens isn't crystal clear it can act just like a star or defuse filter which pulls and distorts the light when it hits the lens. My old 35mm photography memory banks in my brain kicked in, from the deep dark recesses. Lot's of deep dark recesses in my brain, along with dead and inactive areas from years of abuse during my foolish younger days.
