Dry and windy
So,,,,, I started the day by deciding I had better try to get a handle on what orders I had coming in.

Hyperion battery,,, from RC lipo's,,, contacted them for shipping info and the reply says that they have a medical emergency going on there and they aren't sure when they will be back to work. The owner went down and everything came to a halt there. That's OK,, sorry to hear it but stuff happens,,, I cancelled the order there and saved myself from getting the wrong battery that I ordered! :thumb: I think I will wait until I get word from Sculpteo before I order up another battery.

Next,,

Got in touch with sculpteo,,, seems that maybe,,, just maybe I borked-up the order there, still waiting to get a sign in, to their site to check on the order. So I don't know when that will show up,,,

Right now all of my projects are on hold! Will report back once I get more info. :thumb:

FYI

While most of us have seen this already: Evolv DNA200 Case with Buttons (6524725AS) by slutlab

The designer is apparently working on models incorporating larger batteries and these were briefly visible earlier today but were apparently later suppressed by the designer. They disappeared while I was looking up the batteries but I was able to access listings from my history.
Pics are provided in case links don't work due to supression

So my enclosure from Sculptoe showed up at the door today :( First off they wouldn't accept cash as payment for the import charges.
CC or Cheque only!! Since I was at work, needles to say it couldn't be delivered :( If this wasn't bad enough the import charges are over 30% of the purchase price! Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous. 30%!!
Even though I got ding by SW for import charges for the first time is was less than 15%
So my first dealing with Sculptoe will likely be my last, no matter how good the print may be :(

Is there no lower end cutoff to import charges in Canada?

Nearly positive that in the US you have to order something in excess of $200 (at least) or the item be specifically for re-sale, to even be at risk of paying import charges.

Charging a 30% import fee on a $60-70 item is just pure insanity, imo.

The print was 71 dollars this is shipping included and the import fee/duties/tax's what ever they are = 22.50 dollars!
Right or wrong they are holding my print hostage till I pay :(
That sucks :( start adding up the print the chip the battery the 510 the wire and connectors It would have been cheeper to by a Hanna 200 :(

Sitting down, facing forward.
Steamer, I've always felt that the US and Canada were both overboard with their import and export taxes, especially to friendly countries in the "free world" and between each other. Heck, we're on the same continent and have all the same, basic interests. Don't feel too badly though, I've spent far more than that working on this low tank mod. I could have bought four VTRs for what I've spent so far. But I do have an advantage...I'll still have all these tools and spare parts for the next one.

I'm in it for the build and the hobby. Don't really care if it cost more than a store bought mod. It's mine I built it.
And had fun doing it :)

Too bad you are not close enough to the boarder for a post office box...but I guess that is illegal.

I agree, I too spent more then a completed mod would have cost but I also bought some tools, ended up extra parts I'll have for future builds. It's all part of the learning process so down the road I'll be saving money on future builds and I'll learn skills along the way. Like you say, above all I love to tinker and it's the pride of "this one is mine and I built it". But it's all credit to you guys for making it happen. Kudos to all of you for the collective knowledge, willingness to share ideas and your work, the advice, keeping the threads friendly & fun and for putting up with me. :) I'm humbled and honored to hang with you guys.

While this all only theoretical right now, this is what I "think" I might be able to do (+/- 20%) over in the Forum that is not to be mentioned........

There's some thing a little funny about this one. We don't have UPS here in town any more. So because it's a UPS delivery it's sub contacted the last leg by a local service and I think there is some hidden extra charge to cover the Sub contractor?
What's funny is after literally a dozen orders from SW this last one was dinged by Customs for an extra charge.
I'm just getting hit from every were on these DNA 200 builds
All said and done still cheeper than Smoking :)

1st batch of my custom mods will only be the larger size.

However, I am hoping to get a wholesale price on the actual Beta Mod Kits once Evolv brings them to market.

So the $5 "DOA" Hana DNA 30 clone from elev8 came today, it looks brand new, not a scratch or ding on it. I put a battery in and no screen, hmmm. Popped a protank on it and hit the fire button, POP SIZZLE burnt hit.... Hit the down button thinking maybe just the screen is dead and it's set too high, still pop and sizzle. So I wondered, is it in stealth mode? Yup! And it was set at 30W and the setting locked LoL. There's nothing wrong with this thing, makes me wonder how many get returned because the people don't read the manual and apparently elev8 doesn't check them out before selling them as DOA. This will make for a good donor for another DNA 40 build. See, over all, in the long haul I will save money and have a hoard of mods! ;)

Sweet Deal! one of my favourite mods is made from a hanna clone enclosure
I sanded it down to a raw aluminum put in a spring loaded 510 and DNA 40
It's Awesome :)

@Steamer861 I'm in the same broken screen situation :(
should have worked more carefully.. getting from S.Vape

I'm really good at acting before thinking :p

Oh Gees That sucks :(
Mine still isn't back from Evolv. Even though there so good with the RMA, for International guys like us it's still a hassle :(
