Well.... they last longer, but performance is dropped off to the point of disappointing after about 3 or 4 days.

Is there something I am missing and can do? Or is this just normal and I can expect to replace with frequency?

I did try rinsing them clean to no avail. I also boiled one to no avail. It seems like once performance drops, that's about the end of it.

Hi Jeff, usually the gunk on coil sticks, you can soak/boil them all you like it won't actually get all the gunk off. Have you tried dry burning them? Normally with regular cleaning/ dry burning a stock vivi head will last about a month - moderate use.
Here's a video to show how: How I dry burn my Vivi heads - YouTube All I'd add to his method is rinse the head after you dry burn to get rid of all the ash/black stuff then dry it, install and vape.

As stated, dry burning will bring life back to that head. I usually go through two tanks of juice then rinse them off. I like to let it dry so I have quite a few that I have in rotation. Dry burn them when my "ready" stock is running low. I have about 15 in my rotation and haven't bought a new head since late October? Can't remember when I last made a purchase. I only have had two die on me.

About once a month I do a Polident soak on the heads. It really revives and whitens the wicks. Put the teakettle on to boil, get a cup out of the cupboard, drop a Polident tablet into the cup, put all but one head in the cup, when the teakettle whistles pour the boiling water to cover the heads, let sit until you remember them. Rinse thoroughly. It does take some of the gunk off, but I strongly suggest dry burning them before the soak. Let them dry and you have a nice stock ready again.

I'm thinking of trying the soak on the stems too. I know there are times when some juice gets down that center and not sure if rinsing gets it all out even though I do blow all the water out after rinsing. Do NOT put the plastic tube or that little silicone cap into the soak. I had a tube that I couldn't unscrew from the base (daughter had it and had a leak, knew nothing about maintaining anything) soaked it. Yes I got it apart but it now is slightly warped(?) where the threads are to screw onto the metal threading.

Now that I count back, those heads are doing GREAT! Must be doing something right. ;). Now watch, they're gonna start to die on me. Just jinxed them huh?

Thank you all. I thought nobody was going to reply, so I dissected one last night and saw how crust-covered the coil was. I ruined that one, but what you guys told me reinforces what I saw and encourages me that these things last long enough not to be looking for alternatives. I will watch the dry-burn video to get a "feel" for it.
