The pins in mine get gunked up sometimes and don't make good contact with the battery. When this happens I usually dip a q-tip in some rubbing alcohol, shake off some of the excess, and give them a good cleaning until the pins move in and out freely.

I know you said you cleaned them already, but check to make sure the pins move unrestricted in and out of the case. They may still be a little gunked up.

how many times should the PCC charge a dead battery before the PCC itself dies? im getting 2 charges. its mine performing correctly??

If charging a 65mm battery I usually get about 3 charges out of it. 2 sounds about right if you're using 78mm batts, but I can't confirm that as I have the old threadless model which doesn't accommodate the 78's.

The center pin on mine fell out completely. I kept putting it back in with tweezers, but now a small spring fell out of the same hole, and it's pretty much impossible to get it back in there. I did get a good 10 months out of it, which I suppose is fair for the price, but the pin design seemed destined to fail from the start, and I never even got to the point of having to replace the onboard battery. The screw-on design, while it may take a second longer to attach a battery to, seems like it should last significantly longer.

Yeah, sorry about that. Some ideas work out very well in short term testing, but over long term use problems show up.

has the cleaning actually helped in a significant way for others? Mine pin still seems sticky. :(

It's helped mine. I've had it since May. I first experienced the problem about 6 weeks ago. After the first cleaning everything worked fine for about a week and a half before the pins were gunked up again. I was a little more thorough on the second cleaning and haven't had any problems since. I imagine I'll be cleaning it again in the future, and if/when I can't get it to work, or if I kill it using too much alcohol, I'll have a good excuse to buy the threaded one I've been wanting.
