Happened to all 3 brand new ones I tried.

I'm not sure but I think there is a problem with the 510 fitting

So sorry you're having issues and/or problems.

I was having issues with my tumbled Mini. Attys that worked on other Mini/Grands fired inconsistently on tumbled. I played with moving the pin position but it didn't seem to help much. I used button top and flat top batteries. Although you have to push the button down more, for contact, the flat top does give more surface for contact to be made. So it didn't appear to have anything to do with the pin. One evening I couldn't get any attys, that metered okay before using, to fire at all. So I put a set of adapters on, 510-901 and 901-510, that had never caused any issues used on other mods, and they look good to me, and supposedly good quality.... almost immediately caused the battery to collapse after a couple of firings. When I checked the attys, that wouldn't fire, three of them, that were not dead before were dead.

So I highly suspect that the 510 fitting is/was the issue. This is very rare or we would certainly hear about it happening more. I haven't sent it back to Rob yet. I have extra springs but I really hate to kill any more attys.

I know it would be a HUGE issue to be without it for a few days, especially if you only have one Reo, but that's gonna be the only way to be sure everything is made right, unless Rob says otherwise.

Everytime i screw on a carto it shorts my mini but my atomizers work fine. Anyone ran into this before? I already PM'd Rob just awaiting reply. Its gonna suck sending it in and being without it while it gets fixed.

I have this same issue (boge 2.0's); emailed Rob about it. put on a carto straight from another mod (that was working fine), immediated red hot spring collapse (I bent it back and put on a tested atty that worked, so carried on using, then I tried another tested atty and that one didn't....)

I sent mine to Rob and got it back ridiculously quick. It was an issue with the small gasket in the 510 connector.

Just an FYI, but it's really not a good idea to switch attys/cartos around between PV's. Sometimes, one will seat for a particular PV, then cause a problem when it's switched to a different PV, because the center post has "moved". The tolerance on these things is awfully small, and I've found over time that's it's best to dedicate attys/cartos to a single PV throughout it's life. YMMV, and some will probably disagree with me, but I figure the less risk to my REOs, the better.

I know that some of you have had to save up for the Reo you have; so this may sound ridiculous, but this thread is the best argument I have read for why we all need at least 2 Reos. I was having some trouble with my Mini early on with inconsistent firing, and Rob said to send it back. I told him that I would not consider such a thing until I had a Grand. For me, a Reo firing part of the time was better than no Reo at all. Once I had my second one, I could have sent my Mini back. Someday, maybe I will, although I have gotten it to work fine most of the time with Noalox and persistence.

I vaped for a year and a half using mainly 510s and Egos, but I was still smoking 2-5 cigarettes a day too (which is much better than a pack a day which was my pre-vaping normal). I cut that back to a consistent 1 or 2 a day some time after my Mini Reo arrived. After I had the Grand, so I could alternate the 2 and always have a cool atty, I basically quit although I'm not sure on what day. I do know that I have had one breakthrough time, when I was under an extremely tight deadline with too much to do and the quality had to be good. I went down, got a cigarette, went out on the porch and lit it and took 2 drags. Something was missing. I looked at it and it just looked and felt boring. I tried about half of a third drag, realized that I would much rather be vaping, put it out and went back in the house to vape. I still have part of a pack of cigs downstairs and probably will for at least a year. I think I wouldn't be comfortable knowing I didn't have that option. I do, however, go on week long trips to conferences and things and leave them at home. Of course, my Reos go with me. Ok, end of story. This is much longer and personal than I meant it to be.

I agree 100% about having a backup!

Wherever and whenever possible, it's always best to have a backup of something you love, especially a REO you depend on everyday!

My mini fried today too. (I tried a different style atty) Where is this gasket? Is it user serviceable? Since I need a new spring, I may as well ask em to send me some gaskets too...

The gasket you are referring to is in the atty connector between the threaded area and the center post of the connector. This is not accessible by the user...however, this may not be the cause of your short. If this gasket was bad, your mod probably would have shorted out long before this and several times.

I would just send it in. If you want you can stretch the spring out but If there is something with the Mini shorting and its not caused by the specific atty it will just short again. If you can, test the atty if not just send it in. He will have it back quicker than you can imagine. I think he must've brought his tools and fixed mine at the post office or something lol
