I liked the idea of being able to unscrew a knob to easily fill a tank so I ordered the one from mom and pop store. This is the most frustrating tank I have ever used. It comes with a prepunched cart so the first carto worked great. Easy to refill. The problems came when I had to replace the carto. The endcaps are not solid they are a soft pliable rubber material. They bend when you try to insert them into the tube. I have messed with this thing for 2 days. I have tried the suggestions on the reviews and its a no go. This tank is going in the "cant use" drawer. Going to stick with my cheap dependable smoketech tanks.

Hmmm...I rather like mine. Did you put the grommet (endcap) on the carto first, then insert it into the tube.. once you get that seated, slide the other grommet on the carto and fit into the tube. It's easy.. well, no, not exactly easy but it's very doable. There are videos telling how to do this. here's one showing how to change a carto in a chibi tank, the chibi is just like the sub tank except there is no fill hole and both grommets have o-rings around them.

Here is another video (with sound this time) showing how to assemble the chibi (also sub) tank. It's about halfway down the page.

Yeah, I have tried that. Did it just the way the video shows but it doesn't work right for me.

Sorry you're having problems with the sub tank. I admit it can be a little fussy. It's all in the thumb nail. Follow the basic proceedure as shown in the videos. Square up the grommet on the tube, and work around the diameter a little at a time with your thumb nail. Some firm pressure is needed. Often you'll find one side will go in, but the other will still be bulging out; plus sometimes the red o-ring can get hung up on the lip of the tube, especially on the fitting of the final grommet. That's when the finger nail is really needed. You might try wetting the sides of the grommets with a bit of juice to help it go in easier. Good luck.

you can always put fill holes in your dctanks. I posted a reply to you over on the provari forum with links to where to order the stuff needed to do this, around $10 shipped and you can have a drill, tap and 25 screws (that are the exact same as the sub tanks uses) I can post the links again here if you (or anyone else) is interested. I don't mess with my grommet tanks anymore.. the dctanks are much easier to assemble and change cartos. The sad part is I have around $20 invested in tubing and grommets :glare:

If you look at a new sub-tank, you'll see that the grommets aren't fully inserted- just one half of the grommet and the colored o-ring.

I think people run into difficulty when they try to stuff the entire grommet inside. They also work better after a rinse under hot water- this makes them more pliable and any moisture helps to reseal.

I have 2 mini subs, can change both cartos, wash/dry tanks and refill them in under 5 mins.

The link in the Provari thread for the drill and tap works, but the link for the thread takes you to an eBay auction that is no longer available.

Would you please post another link for those screws ?

    Thanks !

Well that's discouraging. I just ordered 2 mini sub tanks.

I feel lucky, I only just ordered one.

I like the dctanks and thought the more expensive tanks would be even better. Well, I have had a little mama tank for a while and still can't get a carto to accept any juice in it, I've been trying since I got it and have tried everything to no avail. I have all but given up on it. I hope I get better results from the mini sub.

    Good luck with yours.

That's pretty good, Karn. I can probably do only one in 5 min. But it does get a lot easier with a little practice. That's why I hope the OP doesn't give up on 'em so fast, because they perform really well when you get 'em up to snuff.

I wanted to update and say that I have kept working with my minisub and I finally got both endcaps-with carto loaded and its working well. This is for sure a tank that takes some tinkering with to use but once you get the hang of it its works nicely. I doubt I will order another but will keep using the one I got.
