Mini-Tanks Getting Hot

I'd say time for a new tank.
or wash them really good.
happened to me last week only i think it was plasticy.
i tried everything.
i rinsed everything and soaked in warm water with down dish soap.
i went and got a cheap smalll $5 bottle of vodka... which was wierd cuz i don't really drink lol.
after rinsing all my tanks and mouth pieces, coils and wicks and all.
i soaked them in vodka for a couple hours.

i used a mason jar with a lid....
i think rinsed real good,
patted dry, then shook dry
let them air out for an hour or two.
then i assembled them....
blew threw the mouth pieces
to make sure water was out as much as possible
filled with juice

and was like with!
it worked on all but one big tank and i had to replace the coil/wick on that one.

ps. i save the vodka in the mason jar... so i don't have to go buy vodka every time i need a cleaning.
just want to add i'm a newbie too. been at this about a month. that's why i asked sometimes it's user error. i think i was letting mine get too low and it left the nasty taste in all of them.

The only thing is that these tanks are only 3 or 4 days old. I just got them in the mail on Monday or Tuesday. Also, I tried a different flavor in a carto instead of the tanks last night and I was getting that taste too. That's why I was thinking it was just my mouth acting weird. I guess I will go get some vodka tonight too and try cleaning them up. I might have also been letting mine get too low. Thanks for the advice!

yeah
i don't understand why it worked for me.
i thought i had vapors tongue.

but once i cleaned everything in the vodka it went away.
so i thought maybe that burnt taste was a coating on my tongue or something.

i couldn't tell ya.
it was happening to new tanks and carts too.
everything tasted nasty and i was picking up my analogs again.

i didn't want to go thru a rigorous cleaning routine with tanks... so i gave the vodka a try.
I hope it works for you, but if it doesn't you're only out $5 or $6!
and a few minutes of your time.

i'll be curious to know if it works for you or not.
if it doesn't work.. then i'd say it is vapors tongue and it's just a fluke that cleaning my tanks worked.
so update me!

i think i was letting mine get too low...
now i try to keep them topped off and don't let them get below 0.3... at about 0.3 it starts to taste wierd again... and i freak out cuz that nasty taste was horrendous! (this is on my mini tanks) on my triton tanks i notice it just under half filled.

i think also i was pulling to hard. i can't swear to this... just my thoughts. i was puffing on it like a cigarette. now i kinda do a slow draw. pull it into my mouth and then inhale.
i notice a big difference in taste with that.

again i'm new... and this is just my trial and error observations.

Some good info on cleaning the mini tanks Ladiekali, but the vodka is out of the question at my house because hubby is a recovering alcoholic ( not a drop in 3yrs!). Having to have his left kidney removed 3yrs ago was really a game changer for him, that's why I want him to get off the stinkies so bad also. That one little kidney is doing double time, ya know? I wuvs me some hubby and just couldn't risk it. He's already sulking that vaping has replaced HIM as my 'one guilty pleasure'...lol Any alternatives to the 'booze cleaner'? Lemme know!

Vodka's advantage is it evaporates pretty quickly cutting down drying time. Maybe buy only what you need, when you are ready to clean? Airplane size bottle(s) then dump as soon as your done.

i bought a small bottle of vodka, think it was 4 dollars, dumped in a mason jar.
and then just reuse it. don't know if that's feasible for ya?
you know it will last awhile. you could even not tell him it's vodka,
i have teenage boys so i don't like having alcohol bottles laying around either.
I just labeled the mason lid, alcohol cleaner. doesn't sound very enticing for drinking

My oldest boy did a alcohol od' not too long ago while i was dealing with my granny in NICU.
came home and found him outside on the ground covered in vomit. it was a mess, i was sure the kid
had brain damage.

so i feel ya on that! i used the whole bottle, i am so not a drinker, i just know it cost about $5 after tax and threw the bottle away.
since vodka is pretty much odorless and colorless, maybe you can pull the wool over him it's not like you need to go by a bottle every week or every other week.

I can't think of anything else that would work like vodka.

Yeah, it sounds like the vodka is the best option. It's cheap and works best. Cheap is good cuz I can't have anything cutting into my ejuice budget...lol

I threw all my tanks and cartos in a mason jar with some vodka for a couple hours last night. Shook them out before bed and let them dry overnight. Seems like the weird plastic taste is gone from the tanks but the flavor tastes a little muted compared to Tuesday. I'm thinking maybe it's a little bit of a combination of vapers tongue and dirty tanks (little taste from vapers tongue and bad taste from dirty tanks maybe). I haven't tried the cartos yet, I have a couple flavors I haven't vaped yet that I might drop in my other tank and try out to see if I can wake up my taste buds.

just my i`m new to vaping... one month in and using triton. i top off my tanks when they get half empty. never let them get any lower. i have not cleaned them unless i am switching flavors and have only used hot water and let them air dry for a couple hours before adding new flavor. never got a burnt taste. some juices didn`t seem to have much flavor so i installed a 1.8 ohm coil and the flavor really "popped". this is my experience and yours may differ.

Small update. One of my mini tanks seemed to still be behaving strangely even after the vodka soaking. When I was vaping, it was like sucking a really thick milkshake through a very small straw. I examined the mouthpiece and nothing seemed to be dysfunctional, so I shoved a paperclip in the hole in the center post. Came out with a bunch of dark gunk. This happen to anyone else?

can't remember if you said already, but what juice are you using?
that might have something to do with it. if it's a thick or citrus juice.

I didn't say before because it isn't a Halo juice and I thought it may be against the rules. But, since asked, it is Space Jam Omega.

Also, I might add that I don't know that it ate my wicks, but whatever piece is inside that center tube that I accidentally yanked out with the paperclip looked charred. I don't know if that's how it's supposed to look or not.

I have a wickless nano from SI, but it's a bottom coil, so it's still sitting around unused.
