I'm finding that the positive battery contact on my Reo doesn't always seem to make a solid connection with the battery, and i have to fiddle the battery around a bit to get it to fire again. The problem is even more apparent when I use a flat top. The mod is only a few weeks old, so my concern is the problem will get worse. Anyone else experience this and have any advice perhaps?

Flat top batts aren't recommended for the Reos. Maybe the spring needs to be pulled out a little bit longer, just a tad for the button tops? Also make sure you have enough Noalox on the firing pin. I use just a smidgen on the top of the batt instead of putting the noalox on the firing pin.

If you haven't filed your firing pin and put a dab of Noalox on it that would be a starting point. Also you might want to put a tiny dab on the positive end of the battery as well.

ETA: Blue is too fast for me today.

IF you are vaping subohm then you'll have to file and Noalox more frequently.

Just saw the part about vaping subohm. I just tried a 10 wrap on 1/16 drill bit using 26ga and it came out to .8. I think this is actually when the problem occurred! I think i'll be switching back to a slightly higher resistance coil anyway, but this is good to know.

Rob is coming out very, very soon with a subohm kit so you'll be able to vape real sub ohm if thats your thing. Parts are being shipped to him on the 14th of this month. THen he has to sort, retrofit etc. After he's squared away they'll be available for ordering or sending the Reo in for installation. .8 ohm you should be OK with an occasional file and Noalox.

File and Noalox, but really.....get you some non-flattop batteries. The REO firing mechanism was built to work with specific batteries, and it works best with those. AW IMR 1600 mAh 18650. It'll work with the flat tops, but the pin has to bend more, and it'll put undue stress on the firing pin over time. I know it may not be that big a deal, and it can always be replaced, but why not just use the right parts to start with? My two cents.

You will be able to use flat tops with the new kit. When you use flat tops, it causes arcing to occur, you should see some sparking when you fire the reo. This sparking causes oxidation on the firing pin and on the battery's lead, which in turn causes misfires and weak hits due to poor conductivity between the batt and firing pin. the lower in ohms you go, the more oxidation occurs.
