I don't believe the problem is with the pv. I have the 901 and the ego and the throat hit is about the same. I love the ego though because I've had less problems with the atomizer. The juice makes a huge difference on throat hit though. I've ordered from 5 different venders and many different flavors. I like a little throat hit so I've been sticking to 24mg. I do all my ordering from Tasty Vapor because of all the different flavors and the price is good. I would suggest dropping to 12mg to 18mg and stick with sweeter flavors. tobacco menthol and cinnamon with produce higher throat hit and more fruity or chocolate flavors will be more mellow. My opinion and Good Luck finding something. Just so you know also I quit smoking right after I got my ego and found the best flavor for me.

What I have right now is the 510 and some are suggesting getting a 901 instead because of the smoother hit. And as far as flavors go, I have all VG, from 36mg all the way down to 6mg - all of them giving me the same harsh feeling.

I'm not sure if you saw it but I'll repeat my suggestion of a 510 SLB atomizer, which is very different from a 510 Joye atomizer. The resistance on the 510 SLB atomizer is the same as a 901 which means you'll get the same hit as you would with a 901 for the most part.

And you already have the necessary 510 batteries.

I'm sorry...I was actually going to ask you about this earlier, but by the time I got back to the computer, I'd forgotten.
Where would I get the 510 SLB atomizer? I'm from Canada and finding it really hard to find a US supplier that ships here and doesn't take 2 weeks or longer. I'm kinda impatient.

I've seen them at MyFreedomsmokes and VaporCountry.

Ewwwww, yeah, that might complicate things.

Well, if you can't find any SLB 510s and need to go the 901 route, then you should at least get a 510/901 adapter, which I assume can be found more easily, although I'm not sure where.

Good luck!

I think I've finally figured out why I can't put the analogs down (which has been my goal since starting to vape 2 months ago). No matter what I try -from PG to VG, from 6mg to 36mg, I just can't get that smooth, deep inhale without it hurting my lungs. By now I think I've mastered how to inhale the vaper, by taking a slow puff, keeping it in my mouth for a sec before inhaling (even letting some of that vaper first leave my mouth), and no matter what, I get that "stabbing" feeling as soon as it hits my lungs. I don't get that at all with my lite analogs. Hopefully I've made enough sense for somebody out there to understand what I'm trying to say.
I keep reading on here about alot of people like me who are having a hard time in giving up the analogs, but are still proud of at least cutting back. I haven't cut back at all - still smoking my usual 5-10/day. I know that's not much to some people but to me, making no progress in 2 months feels like a failure.
So, before I throw in the towel, I'm wondering if it would help to go straight to 0mg VG and, I don't know, maybe throw on a patch for the nicotine?? I honestly don't know what else to do....resorting to snus or snuff is not for me.

There is no failure in trying, only in quitting (No pun intended).

The suggestions and explanations here are right on the money. It's a combination of all three of the components. Battery (resistance, which, as stated, dictates the atty's heat performance), Atty, and juice. Given that all three variables are in compliance with each other, and that you are not allergic in any way to any ingredient that exists in the juice, i would recommend you try to completely quit analogs (if possible) and vape only to give your lungs the chance to adjust. Vaping was harsh for me when i started as well, but got used to it. And I honestly can't say whether two months of vaping is enough adjustment time for you or not.
Remember those very first few cigarettes that you smoked? Almost coughing up a lung at first to eventually being able to chain smoke effortlessly (chain smoking part more for me :p).
If you're lungs can tolerate 4000+ chemicals from a cig and still go down smooth, I'm sure we can help make it smoother with the right combination of PV and juice, with alot less.

You need an eGo and the right juice. I know exactly what you're talking about with the 510. It's a harsh, hot, drying throat hit. Changing atomizers provides temporary relief, but it's back to that nasty hit in relatively short order.

When I got my eGo, it was like breathing in a fluffy cloud. The resistance of the throat hit was there, but it's smooth instead of abrasive. And when I exhale, the vapor just keeps coming out. Another selling point for me (which wasn't just hype) was the battery life. One battery can last me all day at work (and I was a pack a day for 20 years analog smoker). My charged spare can last me 3-4 hours of heavier usage at night. Batts charge in under 2 hours. It's the perfect compromise between one of the larger mods and a 510.

As for the hit, it's a 510 atomizer, but I don't know if it's due to the cone or some other design feature, it just yields a really smooth full hit. I was at my wits end before it arrived. I've been vaping for six months, but didn't actually quit smoking until two weeks ago. The eGo and the right juice were the solution for me. As for the "right juice", only you can say...

Well this makes it alot easier! Lol. The supplier I've been using here in Canada just started selling these. So the ego gives a smoother hit than the 510? I don't mind a tiny bit of TH, but don't want the stabby lung hit. (Just making sure I'm getting this right).

I just wanted to chime in to say that you're not alone. I too smoke about 10 cigarettes a day and started to vape hoping that I would be able to quit. I am frustrated that I've given myself plenty of time to master the learning curve, and I still feel I've made no real progress. I'm thinking about the patch or a battery mod... Still trying to place what it is that makes it hard. I crave the taste of the vape, but after vaping, still want a cigarette sometimes, not for the nicotine, but for something else. Anyway, hang in there, try the suggestions of other vapers and don't give up!

I know what you mean!! I remember when I was smoking having that "not satisfied" feeling if someone gave me a smoke that was not my brand. I would often finish their ciggy and then light up one of my own straight away to get the satisfaction I was familiar with.

When I started e-smoking I thought this through and for two weeks prior I smoked a different brand to mine. For the first week I smoked something I could tolerate and then switched to a brand I didn't like for the second week. I chain smoked for those two weeks but when I went on to the e-cig I had already broken the flavor of my brand and the transition was easy and permanent. Tried "My Brand" since and YUCK!!!!8-o

Like many others have said i think the deep inhale comes with the correct flavor and strength combination for you. I just found what works for me I just received the Cool flavor from V4L in 18mg. Its the first flavor i have found that i can smoke just like an analog taking a pretty hard drag and deep inhaling prior to this none of the other liquids i tried could i do this. I was never a menthol smoker yet over the short amount of time ive been vaping i have found the menthol flavors to be the smoothest and most satisfying for me.

 I still can't get over how helpful everyone here is!! Thanks so much for all your advice!
After alot of pondering and researching, I've decided to first try the 901 atty. If that works, I may just get the whole kit and give up on my 510. If it doesn't work, I'll try the ego and if it still isn't what I'm looking for, I'll quit my whining, suck it up and do my damndest to get over this hurtle.
Thanks again for all your help. :)

I finally figured out how to vape without overdoing it & *just* posted a thread on it. I was also having issues with getting too much or too little into my lungs. Anyway, avoiding redundancy, I won't re-post, so do check it out if you have the time. (I am using the Joye 510, pure 20 mg VG)

Happy vaping! :)

Please do try the 901. I've used the super mini and the 501 since the first of January, and I never could inhale either of those. The 501 seems very harsh to me, although many people love it. I decided to try the 901 last week. Perfect for me. Very smooth vapor with no burnt taste, and I can actually inhale it. After reading a lot on the forum, I searched out a genuine SLB, found it at Vapor Kings, and I'm very pleased. I hope you find something you like. Don't give up!

I'm suspecting it may be the ejuice. Did you get it all from the same place or various venders? Is it all PG? All VG? or both? If PG, you might be one of those that are allergic or have some reaction to it. While there is a difference between the ohm readings from the 901 and the 510, the biggest difference in taste depends mainly on the flavor - some taste better in warmer vapor (510) and some taste better in cooler vapor (901).

At any rate don't get rid of your 510 if you're getting at Tornado/eGo as some of the parts will work with it.

All my ejuice is VG and from the same vender. And no, I don't think I'll be giving up my 510 for quite a while.

Just on 'scientific method grounds' re: 'constants' :) I'd try another vendor - even just a few samplers, before I'd change any hardware. Of course having a 901 atty and adapter can't hurt either :)

AltSmoke | Personal Vaporizers - Ecigs DSE901 - Atomizer - Atomizer - PV Parts - Products
AltSmoke | Personal Vaporizers - Ecigs Battery Adapters - Adapters - PV Parts - Products

The 510 carts will fit the 901 but they may be a bit sloppy - you could just bend the end of the atty chamber or get some 901 carts above.
