Mississippi bill (SB 2587) would protect cigalike e-cigs made by Big Tobacco by banning most/all vape shops and most/all e-liquid sales.
Specifically, the bill would require e-liquid manufacturers in MS (i.e. most vape shops) to obtain permit from MS Dept of Health, would require all e-liquid retailers in MS to obtain permit from MS Dept of Health, would allow Dept of Health to reject permit application for many different reasons, would require child-resistant packaging for e-liquid (but not for cigalike e-cigs)

Since the only beneficiaries of this bill would be cigalike manufacturers and retailers, it appears this bill is being sponsored by one or more of the large tobacco companies.

Why does this not surprise me? The last few governors have been in the pockets of the Tobacco companies. That's why the proposed ban of smoking in restaurants has always lost or been vetoed.

I'm sure the stores around where I am are already aware of this. I'll see about contacting my district rep.

I read the act. I see e liquid made in mississsippi is regulaated and selling e liquid is regulated but it's not obvious how this would shut down those businesses. Did I over look something?
