My big Christmas present when I was 12 was a new shotgun. These days in a lot of places some people would think it's crazy to give a 12 year old his own gun.

Christmas at 18 was in boot camp.
Graduated the following week and made it home on New Year Eve

When I was about 8 my grandparents won a couple thousand dollars in the lottrry and bought the grandkids alot of presents. I remember being passes presents and I started stacking them, then started to get larger ones making me reorganize so I wouldn't get my presents mixed up with my sisters. By the time all the presents were passed out each kid had ~40 presents with most being decent sised boxes. We had present forts. We were throwing wrapping paper balls back and forth over the top of the forts. My mom had a picture of it somewhere in the family album. Best present I got that year? One of those stomp pad rockets. Immediately lost the rockets within a week onto the roof.

When I was 10 we went to Texas at Christmas time to visit Grandpa. Did the whole thing with presents, food and all. A few days later we headed back to Michigan figuring Christmas is over and will be having to go back to school soon. Get home and in the living room was a tree with presents under it. Folks had family come over and set it all up while we were gone - had a twofer that year.

In my early 30's I lived in Montana for nearly 2 years. I ran some restaurants and worked 7 days per week and even during the hours I wasn't working I was on call. Didn't know anyone there, didn't have a chance to meet anyone and couldn't really associate with my employees cause I was the boss. Only had 2 days off each year. Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Did the same thing for both. Rented a VCR and a bunch of action movies from Blockbuster. Bought a turkey TV dinner, a bottle of vodka and a Gallon of Orange juice.

Slept in until 10, nestled on the couch watching movies and drinking screwdrivers until about 4pm when I made my dinner. Passed out around 8 or 9 and slept like a baby.

I loved those days.

Heck Man...that's the perfect bachelor's Christmas! I've had a few of those myself. The only difference is it was 70-75 degrees out (in Fl.) I had Jim Beam and Coke, followed by turkey and cheese sandwiches! Today the only thing I truly miss.....is the 75 degrees! Brrr...it's cold out!

Last year was the first year in a long time we didn't watch Jean Shepherd's Christmas story. My son gave up his satellite Dish subscription.

"Deck the halls with boughs of horry, farararara ra ra ra ra". (The scene in the Chinese restaurant).

Oh yea...I had an old gray HUGE Mercury Cougar we called "The Love Boat". Even made the "dadadadadada" sound as it chugged down the road in it's final years. The huge trunk could hold a lot of band equipment. It had a nice BIG back seat too...which is how it got it's name. But...that's a tale for another time...

I remember the Christmas Eve Blizzard of 1982

(From Local Newspaper, its amazing what you can find on the internet)

"On Christmas Eve, snow fell heavily on Denver, as everywhere in Colorado and it continued to fall through December 25. High winds whipped snow into massive drifts over highways, cars, livestock, houses and streets. Travelers were stranded for days after giving up the fight to get anywhere. Schools were already closed for the holiday, so most people stayed exactly where they were and waited out the storm. The official tally was 23.8 inches. Some areas received a good deal more, closer to 29 inches."

My husband and I both worked the graveyard shift, it took us nearly 2 hours to get home that day, usually took 25 minutes. Made it home just in time before they closed traffic to just emergency vehicles. We spent 4 days in the house playing B17 Bomber (a new video game) with the kids and had a great time. We stayed in our pajamas the whole time. It is the only time we have ever had to dig ourselves out of our house, not in. Good memories ♥♥♥

2. I have fond memories of watching all of the Christmas cartoons every year. Drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows snuggled up on the couch. My faves were Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf and Charlie Brown. We still watch them every year, now I have grand kids to watch them with
