My husband and I never dance in public (because we can't dance to save our lives! lol) but we dance in the kitchen while supper's cooking quite often. If this song comes on the playlist, he just has to dance me around in circles. He can't resist this song! I never realized it was used in a movie (which we never saw) until I you-tubed it for this thread

ROFL I had a Hot Rod back in high school..It was bright and loud, I had the best 8 track player with kick .... speakers I could afford. When my girlfriends and I would skip classes and go for a ride...this SONG was the one that BLASTED out the windows. Mind you my car was pretty big so I could fit a lot of teen aged girls in it LOL! We would cruise the main drag..thinking we were Soooo COOL! I remember one of my friends saying they could hear us about a 1/4 mile away and when we stopped at the light the car would be bouncing up and down from all of us jamming to Donna Summer!

Once upon a time when I was stuck living in the barracks we had 3 stereo systems all hooked together - multiple amps, equalizers and lots of speakers. The effects of this song were awesome as the sound traveled around the room.

Every Christmas our family has a tradition. We listen to the Alabama Christmas album while me and my sons decorate the tree. In July 2004 after 2 years of daily care we buried my father in law who I was closer to than my own father. My husband completely buried his emotions and never shedd a tear, he never allowed himself to grieve his fathers passing and it was taking a toll on him and our entire family. His mom, brothers and sister were all suffering not knowing how to move past his loss. For Christmas I made my husband a movie similar to this using this song. Needless to say he was able to finally grieve the loss of his father. He showed it to the whole family at our Christmas Dinner where everyone cried and balled but then they started talking good fun memories and realized everything would be okay. Through the tears we learned we can laugh again and that there were many more happy memories than the sad one they were all cllnging to.

I began the movie showcasing pictures of them when they had their christmas then after the part where daddies not there in his chair I changed the focus to their grandkids the little ones, the future of their family.

All I can say is....WOW!

Incredible story....awesome video very tastefully done....beautiful song. One of the VERY BEST and original entries to the Contest thus far. This blew me away My Dear and made me reflect on some of the mountains...and valleys within my own life. Thank you!!!!!

Oh yea! GREAT tune! I can remember blasting this song thru my old beat up Pioneer stereo with cracked speaker cones. The distorted sound they made seemed to enhance the incredible intro of this song ...good stuff indeed.

1. Loved this band when I was 15, brings back memories of Jr High

Oh yea...great band! I took my little sister back in the 80's to meet the band during their album release at Peaches records and tapes. Still have their album somewhere personally signed to us...it hung on my sister's wall in her bedroom for eons! Right next to her Poison poster. Dominos pizza delivered pizza to them while we was there. I yelled "Hey...what about me" to them and they had me come behind the counter with Sis and eat a piece of pizza with them. Then gave us the signed album. Nice guys...but Keach was a little too big-headed. All the girls kept asking him to do the "pouty-pucker up" pose. My sister was in a glassed-over speechless daze all the way home!!

Like a lot of people, I have anxiety issues especially during the holiday season when I'm expected to be happy and festive and I'm just not feelin' it, which of course makes the anxiety even worse. I have a playlist of songs I listen to that, when I close my eyes, just seem to take me away from it all for a little while.

I am a fan of Dead Can Dance in general and of Lisa Gerrard in particular and this song is one of my favorites from them I go where it takes me.

I had someone VERY close to me pass away on Christmas Eve many years ago from a stroke in her sleep. Seeing the presents from her under the tree she had given me days prior nearly killed me, as I foolishly went on an alcohol-fueled binge that lasted days. I finally had the courage to open the presents on Christmas the following year. It was very healing....as one of the gifts was a photo album with pics of us and friends in it. Almost as if....she knew what was coming beforehand. And sometimes, It seems that people do...

I remember the Billy Jack movies too when I was younger. And yes, that tune does bring a tear to the eye. What a powerful story it tells.

For those of you who have been following along, you have seen me post a few songs that bring back memories of my Mother.

The 1st Christmas after she had passed, a friend of mine who lives in the building (and also knew my Mother) sent this song to me in an email, along with the story of her friend (John Chaffee) who had written it for his sister, after her losing a long battle with Cancer just a couple of months before Christmas... and had gotten the very talented Anne Cochran to lend her beautiful voice to his song.

A few years later, when one of my neighbors had passed away shortly before Christmas, I made a CD of the song for her Daughter and gave it to her at the Memorial Service.

And during the search for it on Youtube just now, I found that a lot of people had made, and uploaded, tributes to their family members using this song in the background...

The Holidays are a time for gathering friends and family around you, and also remembering the ones who are not there... whether they have gone on in their journey, or are just miles away... maybe even overseas fighting for our Freedom!!

What a wonderful, lasting tribute he has made for his Sister... and the ultimate PIF!!!
