I apologize in advance if this has been covered before but I couldn't seem to find the answer by searching. I just purchased two 18350 Trustfire protected batteries. Fully charged them fresh out of the packaging and rubbed my hands together in anticipation as I let them sit for about 30 mins before I loaded them in my Ego APV and fired 'em up. Im using them one at a time so that I can use my APV in its shorter setup. They read 4.2v... which is great and they vape great until I hit 3.6 volts. Then the mod just shuts off. I have to remove the battery and put it back in to start it up again. I tried on wattage mode and same thing above 4.5w. I have tried several cartos and clearos at different ohms. I dont have this problem with an 18650 battery. I know the mod has a protection circuit, does this mean it will cause me issues to use protected batteries?

Contact the vendor. 4.5W is rather low. 4.5 V, OTOH, can well make amps higher than what the internals are rated for. This would be to protect the switch and internal electronics, which may not be rated to handle high current. I would advise using a high-drain battery. Trustfires are pretty good, but IMR is better for high wattage. But again, 4.5W is pretty low. Most want around 8-10 watts.

Another issue could be if you are using a dual-coil carto, say 1.5 ohms, then you are really pushing it at 4.5V. But again, contact the vendor. They should have more details about your model.
