I have an eleaf IPower that I got from a friend. It can go up to 80W and has a large mah wise internal battery. The issue is that the mod misfires 10 percent of the time. This is getting me worried because if it it is able to do something wrong with it's software, what is stopping it from not detecting a short like most mods would catch because of its built in safety features. The way I see it is that it's the same software in the mod that that is supposed to prevent things is botched up now and the evidence is that the software misfires. Am I not looking at this right or is it something to not use anymore?

If by missfire you mean the mod pushes the button while in your pocket kind of situation, A lot of mods now have a lock mode which locks the fire button. I for one have an aspire evo 75 i can turn the screen off, lock the fire button for when it's in my pocket and there's even a childlock (aka password) you can add to it now. Idk about your mod but you could look on the oem's website to see if there's an update or a lock function on it.

I meant that when I press the button to take a puff, the mod doesn't respond and it just won't fire. It doesn't happen all the time but quite frequently.

I agree with Coastal Cowboy, it's probably a bad contact not software. I don't know how comfortable you are with doing this, but I would take it apart and make sure it's clean inside and all the solder joints and/or screwed contacts if any are good. If it's the switch on the board you'll need a new board so it's probably toast. If you're not comfortable doing this stuff, don't do it.

Good luck with it :thumb:

I have one too that does the same thing. A real pain sometimes, but I have just gotten used to it. I'm not expecting it to last forever so will use it as long as I can until it goes altogether. I use it for the TC options so I know the resistance won't change because I have it locked.

I wouldn't vape something that did that. Precisely *because* I am not savvy enough to figure out what might be going on, especially if it's happening pretty randomly. Nor have I ever done a firmware upgrade (on anything, that's what the husband is for), so I'm afraid electronics aren't my strong suit. But, nor would I use a pressure-cooker that only sealed up right some of the time, etc., etc.

That said, being a non-savant at electronics, you could certainly take it into a good B&M if you have one with a staff member who is good with that stuff, my local B&M fixed a lot of things for me along the way that I would have chucked otherwise. I realize having that nearby is a luxury.

If you are good with electronics, there is no reason NOT to take it apart and see if anything's loose.... I'd agree that POSSIBLY something is loose since its an intermittent problem. I just wouldn't want an intermittent problem to turn into something nasty on me.... one day in the imaginary future, and would have a hard time enjoying vaping it as I'd always be thinking about that "one day" issue.

Best of luck with it!

I tried to google and find another with the issue, but haven't found anything. It is firmware upgradeable and thought maybe that might fix the issue, but I've never upgraded firmware before on any of my mods and kind of chicken to do it. :(
I did one yesterday it's extremely easy and mine was pretty much as idiot proof as it can get :p
There's basically nothing else to do than finding the newest firmware and downloading it.

I actually just checked the firmware and it adds a couple of functions that seem more aesthetic then anything else, so don't think it would help anyways.
