I'm aware that cartos are disposable, but I've modified the CE2 XL cartos with holes in the side to incorporate the homemade tank mods for increased juice capacity. I've had problems with the center air tube moving/sliding and damaging the atty in the cup, so to avoid this I have only cut 2 small holes with a Dremel to allow the juice into the wicks. It works well, except the cartos decrease performance after about 5-10mL of juice. Draw is tighter and vapor is reduced. I can remove the cartos from my tank mods for cleaning but is relegated by the juice's presence (i.e. I'd have to drain the juice from the tank mod).
I've tried "shooting" PGA through the air tube from the threaded end with a 10mL syringe, followed by an un-puffed "dry" burn or two, but with the juice still present, vapor is produced and I don't want to prematurely pop the atty. Also, the PGA gets trapped in the wick and can overheat the atty. How should I go about cleaning the modded cartos? Do I need to break-down and remove the juice from the tank mod, then remove the carto? What steps do y'all use in cleaning CE2 XL cartos when they start to inhibit that brand-new performance?
Also, while on cartos, any cleaning methods for Boge LR cartos' stuffing and atty?
TIA for your learned responses!
