from a credible source:

..they do add lead to "some" copper for machinability which would make it no different than brass, after you machine it, soak it overnight in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide which gets rid of any surface lead exposed...it's all good

I've been meaning to correct that...It's actually 2 parts vinegar to 1 part hydrogen peroxide (local drug store stuff will do)... also, I found out soaking it over night is not such a good thing as you'll start eating away your base alloy...for brass all you need is about 5-10 mins. Same goes for copper from what I've read.

Wanted to jump in the questioning for Cu safety, I have not used any Cu center posts but I have some Cu drip tips and even though I soaked in Vinegar/H2O2 (2:1) after use the Cu develops a dull patina and when juice is in contact with it and I wipe the excess off it wipes off green....

So this brings me to another concern for Cu, does constant contact with e-liquid cause copper carbonate (blueish green compound) and does the temperature fluctuations exacerbate it and pose a potential health risk?

Good question Greatest... my copper Tobh (clone) does that to the wick after a week or so... it kinda put me off it (...that and the fact that it's not that good of an RDA imo)

Yeah I have a Tobh 2.5 and I was only able to get decent flavor off of it at 0.17Ω which makes it a poor candidate for the REO but even still the vape wasnt a prefferable one...I think about passing it on but I have a few more ideas to try and make it a usable RDA.

I think the Cu safety might get more response outside of REOville but for now I have just cycled those driptips out of use until I can find more definite answers.

The Trident has a copper pin so when I modded it I went through the insulator rather than the post. I have heard that acidic juices react with the copper to form compounds we probably don't want to inhale. Don't know if this means non acidic don't react with it or just not to the same degree.

I haven't noticed any off flavor or discoloration using the Trident after using it for about a month now.

Really? I thought the TOBH was supposed to be awesome, just a pain to mod? I had considered trying that one for my personal use but .17 ohms wouldn't play nice with the SL/LPs. I might just forgo that one.

Btw the trident in clone form is available in all stainless. The oem version had a really nice copper center post but not ideal for bottom feeding imvho.

Depends on which clone you get - mine is either brass or copper, not sure which but definitely not SS. I may have an older version, but you should ask before you buy.

Taste is always subjective and performance is build dependent. I typically start with a trusted build on any new RDA and then tweak from there based on what I experience. With the Tobh I feel that the chamber is just too large for what we typically like about RDAs. I have been liking the center post builds as of late and those are impossible with the AFC tabs on the Tobh base. The Tobh 2.5 has 3 5/64" airholes on each side much larger than most would prefer, I did try a Tobh v2 top cap and it has smaller airholes but it only altered the temperature of the vapor vs enhancing the flavor.

I always try an RDA before modding for BF, I did not get the vape I would enjoy so did not proceed with modding for BF but I have taken it apart to see how it would be done. The positive post is broken down into 4 pieces, 1) the top section where you secure your resistance wire, 2) an insulator for this top post, 3) the copper 510 pin, and 4) an insulator for the copper pin. If you have a clone YMMV.

I have chosen to keep my copper driptips clean for use; polished every few days to remove patina, wiped down after use daily and used moderately...
