Hi everyone, I have been vaping for 3 months and am addicted to it and off of cigs all together. I do have a few questions/problems I could use some advice with. I started using the ego batteries but noticed they did not last long enough, I was always charging them and sometimes they would just screw off when I went to charge them and break. So, without any research, I found a guy online in my area who was selling IMOTION 3V+s. I bought one but had a lot of problems with it. I sent it back and now he is either going to send me a new one or a VAMO. The VAMO 5 is cheaper but I doubt I will get any money back.

Anyway, I now use the Kanger ProTank 2s because I like the bottom coil and it holds more juice.

One thing I do not understand, and it might make me soung ignorant, is on the IMOTION and I believe the VAMO, they have both watts and volts. You can either vape using volts or watts is what I understand. Is this the case and if so, is one better than the other? It seems like all I did was burn the liquids everytime I used it.

All I wanted when I started to move up was a battery that held up and lasted longer using a ProTank 2 and now it seems like I am spending as much money as I would have if I still smoked (although I was a 2 pack a day smoker).

If anyone can help with the volts/watts question and maybe suggest a smaller mod that uses 18650 batteries, I would appreciate it.

Well stop buying rubbish stuff for starters ;) Most important part of ecig is atomizer imho, followed by battery and of course juice.

Voltage or wattage? Its good to have both.

My daily and most used device is nemesis mech + kick + kayfun/aqua/protank1. I also use itaste svd at home, but not that much anymore.

Ego C Twist (original, clones are baaad) is also good and cheap vv battery.

You are correct, it is volts OR watts. Took me a few days to figure that out.

I have a ProtankII and I use it at 3.8 to 4 volts. The benefits of using Variable Wattage as I understand it, is that you can set it to a wattage and no matter what coil you put on it; it will keep it the same. This is handy if you change toppers with any frequency and especially if they have different ohms.

You will want to do some reading on the safe wattage/volts for your Protank, which I believe is 4.3 volts or 8 watts on a 2.2 ohm coil.

The burnt taste could be a wicking issue though which has little to do with your battery.

Burnt taste occurs because of:

1. Bad/used burned juice on coil/wire
2. Bad coil contact to the filling (cotton/silica)-> wire will glow! Saturated coil should NEVER glow!!
3. Too much voltage
4. Bad saturating the wick with juice

Quality of kanger coil heads went down... Unused and authentic ones gave me burnt taste....

Once you get a set up that works the way you want it to, the spending should slow down a lot.

I was exactly the same at first, saw something new and shiny - hit the buy button :D I'm happy with my vaping gear right now and don't plan on spending much more, unless a super duper all singing and dancing new toy comes out. But I will be treating myself to some sexy new driptips for my impending 12 month vape anniversary

Calculate how much you used to spend in a month on Cigs, Now cut that in half. That should be your spending limit, depending on how much you WANT to spend. It takes a bout a month of quitting to notice the savings, given you don't keep spending all the savings on vaping. Buying well made devices and not junk will help, then you wont have to keep buying junk.

I learned in flying RC planes , buy cheap buy twice.

I just started Vaping too. I hope to spend less than I did with cigs. I know it will be worth It even if I spend more . In the week and a half of no cigs I can already tell a difference in my health.

I'm Vaping a MVP 2 and have to highly recommend it for noobs like me . My wife just started with a ego twist and so far it seems really good , especially for beginners.

Hang in there and stay off regular cigs :)

I'm spending way more vapeing than as a smoker. I got tired of big tobacco and their additives. Then the gov and idiot proof fire safe wich the health effects are already being seen and don't get me started on taxes. I started rolling my own with a machine. I smoked two plus cartons a week for seven dollars a week. So vapeing is much higher. I made the noob mistake of buying a cig look alike grand starters kit. For what I spent on that (I did get a refund) I got a vv vw spare tanks and rebuild supplys. Finding a juice really like is killing my pocket but not me. I have copd and each cig diminished my lung function. Since I started vapeing my lungs don't crackel and pop and I'm not spiting up brown lumps anymore. To me thats priceless. My primary care physician is so impressed she is recommending vapeing to life long smokers who like me couldn't quit to save their own lifes.

If you're spending about the same amount as when you smoked, you're lucky. I'm spending far more. Once I settle on a selection of mods and juices to stick with it'll taper down, but most of the start up costs when getting into vaping won't be recouped. I doubt that the average vaper saves any money at all...there's just too many things to tempt us to buy. Smoking was just an addiction, while vaping is an addiction and a new hobby.

As noted in my quit banner, I've spent way more than saved, I've spent around $300 this month, $45 was learning. Needed to tweak my juices, have to lower the nic pretty quick. Will take about 5 months to recoup the opening expense, don't know how long I'm gonna vape though (however, can hold onto any equipment and pick up again if do stop vaping).

I use the PT II's as well as Mini PT II's and I use the little chart that came with them to set my volts. Works like a dream. When I install a new coil, I check it's ohms first and then set my volts accordingly. I used to just add two to whatever my ohms read but had a lot of problems. Using the little chart did the trick for me. Please be aware the even tho you might have bought a 5 pack of, let's say, 2.5 ohm coils, they very rarely are 2.5 ohms. Always check them first and then set your device accordingly. They can also fluctuate a little as you begin to use them so check after a dozen hits or so just to make sure. If you are having leaking problems with the PT II's, get yourself some Aerotank bases, cost about $6. They are sealed and won't leak into your battery, excellent fix!!

Thanks to al of you for the info. I am glad to see I am not alone in this. I am hoping too that once I finally get a set up I like that I will not be paying as much. I just want a mod that will give me a good throat hit without burning and that also has a good battery so I don't need to keep charging it. Thanks again, it really is nice to know that we are all in the same boat trying to save ourselves. Honestly, the smell of smoke repulses me now and it is driving my wife nuts. I have turned into one of those people, ex smoker who hates smoke!!!
