MODS vs Standards controversy

Ya know, I see a lot of people push others to use mods. I don't think anything would persuade me to. The best thing about the e-cigs to me is that they are similar to smoking an analog in feel, I don't even like using the manuals I got for my 901.
So my point is, for those who do use mods, and those who don't why do you choose the one you do. For those that choose standards do you think you could find a mod satisfying because it has a better vape even tough it's dissimilar to smoking an analog?

The mods don't appeal to me because they look so bulky. But you never know...if I actually tried one, I might be surprised.

I thought when I started this I wanted one as close in width and length as I was used to (insert comments here ), but I found I like having the battery life and power of the mod. The one I have fits comfortably in my hand and even though it's heavier than I expected I find it's weight comforting in my hand. The metal warms up to body temp from holding it and it just feels good. It did take a little getting used to, but I'm loving not having to worry about battery life and I can get replacement batteries for $2 when theses eventually die in about a year (according to how many times they say they can be charged). I have ordered another mod because I like the ring of LEDs around it (PV2) and I've seen good reviews of how it works. I like knowing that all I have to order are attys and juice from now on and it'll pay for itself in battery costs in a few months. Plus I'm clumsy so the sturdiness factor was important to me. Since my hands randomly stop holding things, I wanted something that could hit the floor repeatedly and still work.

i love my 510 and have no complaints WHATSOEVER but i really want to try a mod and would buy one right now if i new for sure WHICH one to buy. i've been "hunting" the perfect mod now for the past 10 days, and well (sighs) i'm just more confused than ever

but if i never had anything other than my 510 i would still be perfectly ok with that.

I have the Adaptever and love it. Thad has been great to deal with. I've heard great things about the Silver Bullet too and Rob seems like a great guy. I hung out with him on Vent playing Aion Online during their last beta weekend. I've got the PV2 on order because I like the LED's, but I wasn't willing to order it until I saw some reviews, once I saw them I decided that looks and performance were worth the money. I know there are lots of opinions out there, but I found that everyone really likes whichever one they have so most likely you'd be happy with any of them . My main goal was sturdiness and performance and I can say I've definitely got both with the Adaptever. I've dropped it more times than I can count and it still looks and works like it did the day I got it. I'm counting the days until I get the PV2. It's be nice to have 2 dif flavors loaded up and ready to go and switch back and forth through the day without having to change atty and cart (not that doing that takes any effort).

Like most people when I started I wanted something as close to an analogue as I could get. I really just thought of the Ecig as more or less another brand rather than a whole different experience.

As time went on though, I started to appreciate vaping for its own sake as a very different thing from smoking. I enjoyed having control over how much nic I took in at any given time, and using different flavors throughout the day. I also got into the different experiences according to what type of PV I had, and I experimented with most of the better known brands, much as I experimented with different brands of analogues when I first started until I settled on one type.

Then, partly because of the possibility of the ban, and partly because of both the cost and the inconvenience of most standard batts, I felt it was time to look into a mod. I tried a couple and did not like them at all. Not for me. Did not like the taste, the temperature, the looks, the weight of them..all due respect to those who do, its just not for me.

Then I found the VP1 Not too heavy, not too hot, not too big, does not look like it is made out of plumbing parts, and gets the job done. It has become my go to daily workhorse, but I still enjoy the standard PV's for all of their various attributes.

If standard batts lasted a whole lot longer, and lasted longer between charges, and if there was no possibility of a ban, and if they could be purchased at the corner store, then I might never have gone for a mod at all, for me it was really just a practical decision.

I do agree that some people are a bit pushy about getting a mod, but they have 2 very valid points..dependence from China can be cut off except for atty's. It would be very hard for the FDA to stop State to State commerce. Also the workman ship is far superior in the mods.
I like having a ciggy type for out and about..but I am not die hard about it.

I love my 901's..I do want to try the manual batts because I like my manual passthru. It would be a plus to me to not worry about flooding my batt!

I do have a NicoStick, I am on my second one in 4 months..I think I just wore the other one out! It's not broken in any way. But the original 3 protected aa batteries I bought for the first one are still going strong. (It only takes one at a time) Also, I can get a Nico made for me for $25.00..(I have to provide the batteries, charger and Atty's.) That's the same as one assembled 901.

I like the NicoStick for 4 reasons,
1) it's made by people here in the USA..I could make one if I got off my duff and made Mike do it!
2) It takes a 901 atty (it can be made to use any type though) I already have those.
3) It's a little tiny push button fog machine!
4) it fits in the palm of my hand, 2 1/2 long by 1 1/4 wide and a bit over 1/2 inch thick. That doesn't count the atty sticking out. But it depends on who makes it how far the atty is recessed.
I am thinking of having another one made for me after I paint the case red!

I am kind of a wimp, I don't need throat hit or MORE POWER..ala Tim the toolman. I like a lot of the mods, I just don't NEED them.
If I had to stick with one type, I would keep my 901..but should the FDA have it's mean little way, I'll take my NicoStick. That way all I have to worry about is atty's. Juice I can make!

I like them both. I have a nicostick for my 901 that is great. My son makes them. I use it when I'm home. I don't use it in public because it looks to much like a detonator and I just really don't want Homeland Security tackling me,lol I want to make one for my 510 but I'm still waiting on one of the batteries to go bad. I just can't bring myself to tear up a perfectly good battery. So as soon as one dies I'll have a nicostick for my 510 too. I don't see me ever paying for a high priced gadget like a SD or the Prodigy. It's just not for me.

I never really cared if my ecig looked or felt like a real one from the beginning. I just wanted something to get me off cigarettes before I had a heart attack or a stroke and so far I'm doing great with what I've got.

I haven't had much interest in a mod because I don't like the size/bulk/look of them, but due to battery issues I will probably order a VP1. It looks a little less bulky than some others I have seen.

Due to time factors at work and battery life I finally got a mod. With my 901/510 combo at work I'd go outside and chain vape them (vape one till the atty got hot, then go to the other, back and forth) to get my 'fix' in and then get back to work. Now I go out with my mod and leisurely vape for 5 minutes and get my fix. The 510 is still perfect for the quick trip to the bathroom for a vape.

Plus I know the mod will last me all day and night. I charge the 2nd set of batts in the morning when I get up and switch them out and I'm good for another day. I feel a little odd with such a big mod but it doesn't bother me at home. And I have a big enough purse to cart my mod, 510 and juice around I feel like I'm good to go even if I go out at night.

Do you guys use purses that have a side pocket or a pocket with a flap? (like a saddle bag?) That's what I use for my supplies when I go out , so I have my juice and devices handy. I am telling you if I put them in my purse we would have to send in the mounted Police to find them again..drop it in and *poof* it's gone!

I have a front flap on my purse that has a place for two pens (holds two completely assembled!) mini e-cigs. Then it has two little compartments for a cell phone and say, pack of cigs. I use the cell phone one for my little liquid bottles (I always have at least 2 6ml botts) and for the cig holder I put by 510 PCC. So it's kind of perfect. But it's my favorite purse of all time. I use a Kipling Lancelot almost exclusively.

Just look at the zippers and pouches on this thing!!!

I use the Case Logic 6 slot USB Card case. Holds enough stuff for a day or even 2 and I sit it in my purse with the PV sticking out just a little (don't close the zipper all the way) so I can grab it and use it and slide it back in. Then when I ned juice or anything I pop it open and everything is right there in their little slots. Now that I have a bunch of attys I have them broken up by flavors and keep 3-4 atty and cart combos in there. A cart and atty and the corresponding 3 or 6 ml bottle of juice fit perfectly in the little slot and don't end up rolling all over the place. The other slots hold batteries and a couple extra PTB's. Got the case at Office Max for $7.

Hmm since this thread seemed to go to where you're keeping your ecig I want to tell you what I do. My handbag/purse/whateveryoucallit has some nice small pockets for juice and extra parts, but I don't like keeping my e-cig I'm using there. Where I keep it is with my hairband, either on my wrist or in my hair. So it'll either be with my hand all the time or in a japanese style, I'll grab it from my hair and vape!

Very cool Poldara....at home I stick my 901 in my bra to carry it around. But that's just at home. I did forget and carry it into my office one morning, luckily my assistant noticed that I had a 3rd "nipple", nope, just my 901.

But back to mods.....I do like the PV2.....just researching it now, love the LED's. It will be hard for me to change to a different shape e-cig (close to an analog, and all), but I understand that we need to be independent.

I finally got my VP2 today and I am loving it. It's only about as big around as a dime and it isn't heavy at all. Plus the little ring of lights is really pretty. I also noticed today that they now have a led attachment that makes it so you can use it as an emergency flashlight. I'm going to have to order one of those.

I still love my Adaptever and am now keeping both loaded with different flavors so I can pick up whichever suits my fancy.

Good to hear about the VP2, I'm seriously looking at that one. I like that you can turn the battery around and turn off the lights. In the dark I would LOVE the lights!!

I can tell you for a fact that without my 6 volt mods I would most likely be back on analogs. And I've been analog free for almost 6 months now.

The standard e-cigs did not give me the throat hit I need to feel satisfied. To me that is the most important feature of the high volt mods.

Also with my high volt mods, I've been able to cut my nic level to low and still get an awesome throat hit.

Some people don't need the throat hit and some do. Simple as that.

I have my Adaptever at 6v (today...sometimes I use it at 3.7) and the VP2 at 3.7v. 6v seems better for getting a quick fix and setting it down for a while, and 3.7v seems better for nursing over time when I just want to sit and puff. I love having options, never had that with cigs since there were only 2 that I liked and only a few others that I could stand in an emergency.
