Jumping around here in ECF I seem to see a lot of the same post or same comments about price of mods, tanks, and juice.
Especially the ProVari,
Now maybe I was a above average smoker and or maybe since I live in Pennsylvania my tobacco tax is higher but either way I spent $80 or more a WEEK on analogs. That's not a average that's the minimum I would spend if I only smoked 2 packs a day.
Now take that and add the damage it has done, Hundreds of dollars on laptops and computer parts destroyed by smoke. Did you know that most warranty's on computers are VOID if there is signs of cigarette smoke on/in them? Yea I found that out the hard way.
Smoke damage to every thing I own. The 3rd time I was painting my Man-Cave my nephew ask me if I had a fire :(
Cigarette burns in my cloths, furniture, carpet, cars, Cats  (just kidding about the Kitty's) but you get the point.
The Health factor, the other day I ran up 5 flights of steps, why? BECAUSE I COULD :p Now when I say ran I mean as fast as a over weight middle age man could go  and yea I was tired but I was NOT out of BREATH!!!

And I am tired of seeing people post that a ProVari cost over $200. :glare: The truth is it cost $159. ;) The Starter Kit cost $209 :D

And when a person ask me that Spending over $200 is worth it, I just think of All The Above and say YES.

In Fact, I not only thought that Spending over $200 on my self wasn't to much to spend, I turned around and spent over $800 more getting ProVari's (plus accessories) for my love ones. Just the thought of them and me just maybe spending more time together Because we gave up smoking is priceless!!!

I know I could of got them a cheaper plastic mod that came with them blue unmarked batteries that might or might not explode in my mothers face for a lot less money but..but.. I forget where I was going with this

Anyways I didn't mean for this to turn into a ProVari commercial I just wanted to state the fact that given up smoking Analogs is so many ways worth the Money no matter which Mod you pick!!!! :) In Fact I been trying to spam the iTaste MVP for $39.99 all day today! It is at 101 Vape Innokin iTaste MVP V2.0 - 101 Vape That to me is a heck of a deal!!

the price argument gets me too. I spent close to 300 a month on smokes with no argument for years.

the amusing part to me is it isnt even in the top tier of expensive mods, probably one of the more reasonably priced ones I own.

some things are a little overpriced but I have found in general with vaping, real quality just isnt cheap..

I've always been a bit conscientious about vape spending mainly because we're a 1 income family & I don't feel good about spending our money on tons of vaping things. BUT I have tried to spend it wisely & take my time to do research & figure out what I really want & not spend on a whim (which isn't easy when you frequent this forum).

Personally I think it's sometimes hard because you don't know absolutely what will & what will not work. I have purchased kits & hated them after trying them out. And I hate spending money on stuff I end up hating. So that has added to my reluctance to purchase things.

So then with this in mind, it can be kind of scary considering a purchase of $175 for a device (I want a provari mini) that might disappoint me like so many other devices/set ups have. But since I am convinced this particular product will do exactly what I expect it to do I now see it as a perfectly justifiable purchase.

All that said, I have no problem spending that much on a device I know will do what I expect it to do, especially where vaping is concerned. I'm not trying to quit vaping so this is more an investment in my future.

The best way for people to demonstrate this to themselves is to put the money they would have spent on cigs and equipment ruined by it into the bank and then have a look a few months later at how much money they have to spend.

Grats on your massive step forward to a better life and kudos for spreading the love around :)

I understand what you are saying and completely agree. The problem I'm having is that I find it a lot easier to spend the $5-$10 a day rather than save it and drop the $200 at one time. I know it's all in my head, but the act of a large purchase is hard for me as compared to lots of small spending. Kind of weird that my brain does that even though I know that it's still the same amount of money.

I am on a fixed and limited income. Part of the reason I looked into vaping was BECAUSE I could no longer afford the $175 a month I was paying for cigs. It is a false assumption that everyone could afford the habit they had. They found a way to do it but it might not have been a good way to do it.

I spent alot my first couple months. Then settled in at $50 a month vape budget. Since I DIY juice and coils $50 a month is pretty comfy with some to spare to save up for the big ticket items. This level has also bought us a little wiggle room in the household budget that we badly needed. It is nice to be able to eat steak once in awhile. :)

I will fully admit my REO happened when it happened because the hubby said do it and call it an early birthday/bah humbug pressie. Otherwise I would still be saving for it. SO yep I am now saving for REO #2 hahahahahahahahahaha

In some ways I'm finding that researching, learning, watching videos about mods and coils and condom filling cartos and teabagging my cartotank (it was blocked at work, ......) and on and on are actually keeping my mind off smoking as much as the vaping does. I tried to find my own way last time and when I encountered issues and adversity I had no idea how to fix it. Those clearos that just wouldn't fire on my battery last time? Could have fixed that with the keys in my pocket. The nasty burnt taste after refilling a tank? A simple dry burn would have fixed that. And on and on. Yea, I've spent loads more on this hobby in the last 18 days than I would have on analogs but each step has been a progression in flavor and satisfaction and I feel better to boot. I am at a spot in life where I didn't need to quit smoking because of money, I needed to quit for my asthma, my blood pressure, and just my overall health. To get a new hobby out of the deal is just icing on the cake.

...and I spent $145 on a ProVari mini today.

Tea bagging a carto?

Ok back to the op.

I quickly jumped from twists to a Provari Mini. I bought it used. Got a really good deal on it. Kinda helped me justify the price. I never laid down $100 at one time on cigs. (But I have in cigars, which are just sitting in a humidor now )

I just spent another $150 on another used mini. Thinking about it now, I kinda feel silly saving $25 and not getting the warranty , but it has been customized, I can again justify the price.

I look at the counter in my signature and I think I am finally in the black or at least even on tobacco savings vs Vape spending.

I love my carto tanks but they are a continuing expense, much like analogs. Gotta replace those cartos. Gotta buy more juice.

Now I am having the inner struggle about improving my toppers to the next step vs trying to save some money.

Some days I am content. Other I want something more.

It is a bit of chasing the dragon.

I didn't mean to offend anyone and I am sorry if I did.
My Parents Birthdays are both in Oct. and the ProVari's were Birthday/X-mas gifts.
I am a signal income, signal parent with 2 Boys my oldest son has a job and buys his own toys now, plus now pays for his phone, car insurance, internet, and kicks in for the electric bill. Since splitting up with my Ex I went from a 4 person household down to 3 person household and that has saved me some money too. And since my ex is now a member on ECF I mean that in nicest way :) When I travel she comes and takes care of the Boys, Kitty's, and the House, and her Birthday is also in Oct. so I got her one too.

And I like to make sacrifices for my toys I buy. For an example is my last 2 weeks I was on the road I bought Peanut butter, Jelly, Bread, Pop-tarts, and a box of Cheez-It's which are good with Peanut butter. I didn't know when I was going to be sent home so I didn't want to buy groceries so that's what I lived off of. lol And I saved a bunch of money! :) And I blew it all on mods
But they so shiny and I have to have them :p

I was just making a funny play on the "teabagging" method I've read about. Nothing more :)

Honestly I have no idea. I know it's from the days of yore when you were as likely to get a burnt hit as you were to get a good one and folks were using sundials and slide rules to twist wire around a pitchfork to get a decent coil. I think.

I have been vaping about a month and already dropped a grand on this stuff. I did not get a Provari but I have gotten a lot of mechs and some other APV's but one may be in my future if my SVD or VTR's let me down.

DIY juice added up quick because I bought a TON of everything but now I basically won't need to buy anything juice related for like a year lol.

I guess the goal here for me was just buy everything I like all at once and just use this stuff for a long long time. I have no desire to smoke cigarettes any more and that is all I care about.

I heard that some enterprising folks, in the days now gone by when people were doing things like modifying flashlights into eVics and removing the nickel foam bridges from standard atomizers, would carefully dissect a cloth tea bag (the kind that keeps tea from floating all over the water and getting bits between your teeth), rip out the terrible filler material from the decidedly inferior cartomizers available at the time, and replace the removed wicking material with pristine tea flavored bags. From what I understand, this is before lasers when the fine art of punching said cartomizers with one's fist was a well known method of allowing their use in cartotanks. There were possibly Dremmels involved in alternate techniques as well.

Nowadays with vapers building sub-ohm RDAs running Magic wire triple twisted flat kanthal octo dragon nano micro contact vertical coils and vaping 0-nic pure VG, "teabagging" might now have something to do with giant robotic phalluses and ones' mouth...

tl;dr
