This is possibly the best representation of the paradigm shift going on amongst topl academics involved in nicotine science. The letter is aimed at the WHO, but has ramifications for the US (which is not a signatory to the Framework Convention on tobacco Control).

Please read and disseminate.

World Health Organization needs to see e-cigarettes as part of the solution, not the problem, say leading specialists in nicotine science and public health - Nicotine Science and Policy

If only our government was required to actually read opposing opinions instead of ignoring them in favor of out dated biased data that supports their desires.
I do believe though that the datum point is moving on them whether they recognize it or not.
This may be the start of an earthquake that will rattle their world though.

A little off subject, but the current elections in Europe suggest many are quite fed-up with the E.U. Sounds promising for the future.

Here is a direct link to the letter sent to WHO. http://nicotinepolicy.net/documents/letters/MargaretChan.pdf

I kinda want to submit (right now) the letter as attachment to a comment to FDA.

Yet, when strongly considering this, I was wondering why these scientists aren't citing science in the letter, and seems like basis for why FDA would essentially dismiss the letter. I realize letter wasn't sent to FDA, but most definitely pertains to what they are up to with proposed regulations. What I'm saying is this letter, as written, doesn't overcome the "we just don't know what's in these things" position, except for the obvious point of it being supported by 50+ scientists.

At any rate, it is great news and incredibly helpful to see this many scientists, from around the world, who are specifically addressing points relating to reasonable regulations for vaping.
