But is vaping saving more in the long run other then doctor?

I can answer that.

I smoked for 30 years. I generally went through a little more than a pack a day. Figure about $7 per day habit, or $2,555 per year.

Overlooking the learning curve I went through, this is what I currently use. (These aren't my only ecigs, but this is what I use all of the time now)

Halo Triton starter kit = $65
Liquid = $25 per month
Replacement coils = $15 per year
I've ordered two additional batteries for it at $20 each and 5 minitanks at $4 each. = $60

Total = $440 for the year.

Savings = $2,115 in the first year.

The second year I don't have to buy a whole new starter kit. I may have to replace a battery or two and maybe a tank, and I'll have to get more coils. Figure $60 in hardware for the second year, dropping the price to $360 per year, saving $2,195 per year.

That's a good suggestion and you can always refill the cartomizers. I started out with a Kr808 and refilled the cartos. The packaging usually says you can't, but that's a big fat lie. It can be done and it keeps things cheap. High nicotine is a good idea with these smaller models. At least 24 mg.

Some of my converts began with an 808 yrs ago and still use the cig sized. Different strokes for diff folks and to me it doesn't matter what they're vaping with...more important they comfortably quit smoking- for some that means using a cig sized.
As for myself I own many APVs but still occasionally fire up the ole Kgo.

Thanks all. I did insist that it would work out cheaper in the long run for him to go with an eGo setup but he's going on about cig-a-likes and pre-filled cartos. He doesn't seem to understand that pre-filled cartos are expensive for the small amount of liquid in them and they don't last long. Seems I need to do more persuading over the next week I have him staying in my apartment!

Oh dear. I vape 2ml a day. Juice and clearos about £10 per week.

Cartomiser system, <1ml a day = 1 carto. Nicolites £14 per week. E-Lites £27.93 per week.

E-Lites. One and a half grand a year. Read it and weep.

I've close to throwing my "close friend" out of the top window of my apartment ;)

After constantly nudging him to get a starter eGo kit, I have had little success. However: we reached a compromise. Back when I started Vaping, I encountered Skycigs (Freedom Kit, Best Selling Electronic Cigarette Kit - SKYCIG UK) and ordered a freedom pack. It comes with your choice of a five pack of cartridges (I opted for Vanilla High Strength and Vanila is still one of my favourite flavours to date), five mixed assortment cartos to sample, a mains charger, USB charger and a portable charging case with room for a fully charged battery, a battery to charge and 3 cartos. It also came with two batteries.

Back then I didn't realise that buying cartos worked out more expensive than using clearos or tanks. I don't think I even realised they existed! Anyway, I managed to stay away from the stickies for a couple of weeks with them but went back to them when I ran out of clearos and one of the auto batteries became lazy (it didn't pick up when I sucked with the power of a Hoover). During my time with them, the friend in question had a few tries and really liked them. To be honest, the throat hit from Skycigs is surprisingly good for a cig-a-like generic device and the vapour was also just as surprisingly adequate.

The skycig cartos can actually have their cap popped off with relative ease. I know the brand doesn't matter too much here - the same applies to most cartos sold with mass-produced mainstream cig-a-like devices (excluding disposable models). So we came to a solution for him: he'll get the Skycig freedom pack and instead of constantly reordering cartos pre-filled, he will refill the cartos with eliquid to save some money (until the cartos reach the end of their life).

Still not the ideal solution but I can't persuade him to go Ego. So to save him some money whilst naively continuing with his current product of choice, we've made a compromise.

Thank you so much everyone. Certainly gave me some good ideas. Next person I'll try to get off the stinkies and onto Vaping is my mother - I'm buying her an eGo starter kit as we speak.
