last night i treated myself to a nice steak. 16 oz Ribeye (bone-in), medium-rare (closer to rare) with a butter-mushroom sauce to top it off and some garlic mashed potatoes.

Prime fit the bill for a perfect side-vape. I imagine Tribeca would have been good too, but the Prime was really working its magic.

I'll have what he's having.

Did you grill? Or pan then oven?

Had a really good Bloody Mary. Well balanced, not over-spiced, Stew Leonards had it on sale. As well as some bay scallops on sale.

Seared in a smoking hot skillet, served in a wine butter garlic sauce.

Malibu was a good finish.

last night, had deer chili based on my dad's recipe. hunted the deer myself, me and my dad prepped and butchered her properly.

it was quite the spicy mix, with LOTS of peppers to add to the flavor. also some coffee to set the mix and 'tenderize' the meat a bit before cooking it up proper. plenty of tomatoes, stock, onions, garlic, worcesterisiehr...worcherstermer...worchemesteserer, and a other ingredients to make it a nice Texas style chili.

and the accompanying vape? alternated between Southern Classic and Prime 15. it went very well.

i brought in some of the chili to work today, there was much jealousy abound from the other office workers.

by the weekend, the first batch of deer jerky will be ready as well. smoked with applewood and mesquite. i can't wait.

We have really been eating alot of deer here too. Last year we finally figured out how to get the "gamey" taste out of the meat, before we take it to be processed. So now everything we have is so good.

get the "gamey" out?

that's what makes it so good...the wild call of nature! no weird chemicals, or the tastes of animals suffering in pens all day. just pure freedom!

that's what "gamey" is.

take it to get processed? erm,, it's called a buck knife.

Some older deer taste too gamey.

And we get some of the meat processed into sausage and some ground.

"too" gamey? that cant possibly be a real phrase. that's like saying something is "too awsum".

meat grinder and sausage press...stuff goes in one end, comes out the other. it's like a play-dough set, only without the cool shapes.

that's what i used to make the meat for my deer chili.

along with peppers i stole from my dad's garden, boy was he mad when he found out.

Evie, it's always important that your meat tastes good...

(where was I?)

Oh, I luv good venison jerky! I don't hunt (for deer). Too bad, as there are at least 8 in the back yard most nights. Along with other critters, like Toby (pic enclosed) who wanted the bird seed...

Tomorrow will be scallops, either in a risotto or maybe iron-pan-seared. Stew's is having a $7.99/lb sale on the small ones, but it's all meat! And King crab at 9.99/lb??? luv me some King Crab!! And the side dish is easy; melted butter.

Torque and Malibu have been my "go-to" vapes lately.

We soaked our deer roast in saltwater to get the gamey taste out. It was wonderful. I have freezer full of various cuts of venison from last my dad from his deer last year. I'll probably get a bunch more at New Year's when I go visit him too, cause he apparently shot a massive deer this year.

all we got was the 85 lb doe this year....my dad has spent the last year tinkering and modifying his .270 that he doesn't know how it fires anymore. hopefully next year we'll do better.

new batch of my home made venison chili. all my co-workers look at me with envy...and a little pity...just how i like it.

this time, used my pop's speshul blend of seasonings and spices, but i mixed up the veggies. scotch bonnets, green chiles, some jalepeno for kick and a mix of steamed tomatoes and some gooseberry for a little sweetness. plus some brown sugar and molasses to thicken it all up with my dad's mix.

too bad i cant vape while i eat it at work....but afterwards, some cafe mocha in the alleyway out back will be perfect.

wheez, I'm betting that your plumbing can really take a punch.

New Year's Eve Party Menu: (all homemade, of course)

the usual chips/dips featuring the wife's killer "Che Guacamole"

Onion Soup au Gratin to start
then
Roasted Seared Beef Tenderloin (or filet mignon, is it the same?)
Baked stuffed Potato (with bacon, wheez)
some kind of damn veggie
Caesar Salad

Bicerin Dark Chocolate cordial Liquor.
Homemade Deep Vanilla Ice Cream with Chambord Parfait

Haven't finaled the after 10 snacks leading to Midnight.

I will attempt 6 Triton tanks full of various liquids, as I'll have 2 smokers at the party.

(plus 2 electrics, one acoustic 12 string, and a bass. Unfortunately, I think I'm the only playa...)
