I have lost only one atty in over a month... it was my fault too. I was cleaning it out with paper towel and not thinking, I was twisting it around for some reason. When i pulled it out, along came the steel mesh....whoops. I ordered a whack of 901 and 510 attys and figure I have more than a years worth if they last a couple weeks each. The manufacturers and suppliers say these really are disposable items and are only meant to last several weeks before they start to degrade performance... at least thats what i read. I have not seen this happen.

without more information six weeks or ten weeks or two weeks dosnt mean a lot..

50 puffs a day aint quite the same as 500 puffs per day..

i would say they are all much of a muchness.. a little piece of wick with a wire heater coil wrapped around them..

they last as long as they last and there aint no magic button type which is gonna last longer..

trog

ps.. we say two weeks for as new performance but thats just us.. we also started the "disposable" factor.. but then again we would say treat any normal e cig as semi disposable.. okay for light use but will die quite quickly if given heavy use..

this should be common knowledge by now but for some odd reason it isnt..

trog, i've gotta disagree with you on this! no disrespect intended :nun:

I vape up to 3mL a day and have a hard time thinking of them as semi-disposable. If you've got the resources to burn through atomizers (pun intended) without regret, so be it.

Is that not a self fulfilling prophecy though? I maintain my atomizers very well and they vape strong. But if you treat them as disposables that aren't worth maintaining, then they would become just that. Correct?

This is an interesting discussion. I have been wondering about my attys as well. I have an M401 and I am a very heavy vaper (5-10 carts per day). It is not uncommon for me to go through four batteries a day. I try to use my passthru as often as possible.
My atomizers rarely last me two weeks (sometimes less). I was wondering, should I be rotating multiple atomizers? Should I start some kind of cleaning regiment or should I switch to another type of PV?

Thanks
J

I'd recommend some maintenance!

My 510 attys last about a month on average, but they drop off in performance after about 2 weeks. I use to give them the white glove treatment, but now I just use them and sit my 510 on the table at night horizontal and then pick it up in the morning. I have had some 901s last a few days then snap. I have to say I do have better luck with the dura attys, I've only had 4 510 attys in 4 months. I do have 4 on the way 2 scorpions from parked and 2 from inovaper, don't know if ill get the 30k ones or not. If I have a choice I prefer the wide band dura titan style attys.

A little update to my previous post. I looked into atomizer maint as Jfweeench suggested.
I did the following to 3 atomizers that were dead.

1. Soaked the atomizers in anhydrous denatured alcohol for a few hours
2. Soaked the atomizers in a shot glass with coke for 1.5 days
3. rinsed them out, blew them out and let them sit to dry

After an an overnight dry, I blew in them again and no liquid came out. Well I tried one and it didnt work. So, I figured they were dead. They have been in my case for ~ a week and just got a new shipment of atomizers in. Well, I took one of them out and put it on my passthru. IT WORKED. Ok, I put 2 drops of menthol in and it worked great. Ok, next assumed dead atomizer. ITS ALIVE!!! So I was going for the hat trick, #3 is alive!!!!

So, my question now is, was it the alcohol or the long slow coke soak? Either way 3 more atomizers is 3 more atomizers

Needless to say, I am pleased  Maybenow I need to reconsider buying an M-201

I'd go with the coke helping more... the acidity will dissolve the gunk deep in your atomizer.
Lol I don't know why people consider atomizers disposable. College is expensive and 10-30 dollars a month saved will put gas in the tank.

I was really curious about your situation... I've never lost an M-401 atomizer. Then again, I drip. Carts on 401s suck!

Most of the people who say they have atties that have lasted for months, seem to have only been vaping for a few months and have loads of different PV's that they use!!
i have been vaping the m401 only for the most part. i sold my other ecig. i have also been vaping since late january, 2009.

I've been on the same 3 atty's for about a month now and there all going strong! I use ONE of my ecigs (attys) WAY more then the other 2.

As you see in my Avatar Pic, I have 2 black, 1 white ecig (had 2 whites until my Battery gummed up), I use the White one as my primary ecig as it hits stronger then the 2 black one's. I only use the Black ecigs (attys) when my white one is charging.

I put the white one through vapin HE11 and it's just as strong as when I first started using it. I constantly drip it and keep it moist, I make sure to never let it burn itself.

I clean it by throwing it in a cup with water, I put the cup in the microwave and put on 7 minutes, the water nearly explodes!!!!

I take it out microwave and let it soak in the water for 10 more min, take it out, rinse it under some more hot water with the faucet on power blast, with the Atty being held by a "shaped" paper clip. I blow through it, get the water out then blow dry it dry.

This works great, Atty work beautiful afterwards! :D I do this once or twice a week, depend if I feel it needs it.
