Without having experience with mods other than my faithful Maxi Roughstack , I can only convey my personal experience .

I've owned my Maxi Roughstack for almost a year now . I work at a steel mill as a Locomotive Engineer and Conductor . I have dropped it on concrete . It still works . I also had it the breast pocket of my reflective vest and had it slip out as I was dismounting the locomotive and it bounced off two steps of the loco. The Maxi Roughstack is not a pretty mod and again ,I don't know if it is the most durable mod, but it has never failed me while handling a tough work environment .I still use it daily. For $40-$45 minus charger and batteries , it really is quite a value.

Whatever mod you choose, good luck in your pursuit .

You all know the most durable is the GG, its one of its unspoken strong points, yoo can talk about the others all you want. I'm not saying this as a fanboy but someone who has owned most mods I've wanted to and found the others lacking in this area save the SB......:)

Yeah the SSGGTS is definitely one of the most durable but what I didnt like about using it in dirty situations is the telescope, I always get those crunchies in there. Obviously it doesnt really affect anything but it is worth mentioning I think. Plus who wants to dirty up their GG ;)

Another vote for the Copper, though it is a moot point now. Awesome mod, one whose durability you have absolute faith in from the first time you hold it in your hand. Not only unbreakable, but scratches made it look better, IMO. Ran hundreds of mils of Bobas through it, never really cleaned it.

Unfortunately, Vapor Alley isn't carrying them anymore. They couldn't sell enough to make it worthwhile, but I see this as being a victim of your own success. They were so well made, no one ever needed to replace one.

Trouble is much like the soaked cube where the hell do you get one? Armies doesn't even seem to exist anymore from what I could tell. Unfortunately my lt is about to shot the bed so I don't have time to go hang out in the classifieds. However if you know something I don't let me know I never stop buying. I mean, is enough ever really enough?

Well unfortunately after a week of use my sb is having issues with firing. I am assuming dust may have gotten in the button. I was thinking a don or something similar. The SB is working but sometimes i have to fiddle with the button.

I have never owned a glv but is it a sealed button on top and does the switch fire by simply making contact with the battery or does it have a true button on top? I ask because I am figuring possibly that the best bet may be a button that is actually only making contact and not actually making the contact inside a housing.

I checked out the cube mods and was rather unimpressed. $130 bones + Int'l shipping for a square tube with a metal pin actuator...... hardly a bargain.

newq -- I'm not sure how to answer that.

GLV is not totally mechanical -- but the button/switch is one that is also used on some military gear -- I just can't remember what and couldn't find the original post easily. I like it as it will not fire by accident very easily, due to the button itself, and it's placement.

They are tough APV's and very nice to hold, imo. Jay makes them to last---and will repair if ever needed. Heck, he'll even repaint for a small (like $10) fee.

Someone over at the GLV forum area will be able to tell you more.

Photo 3.jpg+ 1 for the GLV!!

From reading the above posts and having see a buddy of mine drive over his ego with bulldozer lol! Not pretty! I see the word DROPPED several times.

So why not attach a lanyard to your PV? I did it the first day with a little key ring and a hole that Jay (GLV dude) drilled into my GLV super-mini. It's all I use and hey, haven't dropped it once :)

I used a quick release digital camera lanyard from London Drugs. It's lasted a year n a half and so has my glv!

I can release it quickly for whatever reason.

The threads between the top and bottom are oversized so no chance of stripping.

Not going to drop it in the ocean or toilet!

I tuck it into my shirt while sanding and painting and no contamination.

I hang it up by my bed at night or on the wall outside the shower.

I have the super-mini version so battery life is 5 hours on 6 month old batteries. AW IMR CR 123's Red high drain ones.

And yeah the button is an actual button, not fully mechanical, but it's rated for millions of presses and covered under warranty.

It's the only mod I've owned in the last year n a half, no need for VV but I do have an ego booster that fits right on top.

My second choice might be a REO mini and I'd totally attach a lanyard but I'd have to see if it's possible.

My buddy with the crushed ego now has the lanyard for that.

Good luck!
