All 25 pages of this thread has been very interesting. I served in the US Navy for almost three decades and drank and ate in hundreds of foreign places, finding only a very few foods or drinks (US Navy or otherwise) that I could not tolerate.

I started vaping about five months ago and found my vape taste was ummmm, hmmmm, quite discerning. It took me hundreds of flavors to find some juices that I thought I could vape on a regular basis. And I come here only to find out that four of my top juices, alien Vision's Boba's Bounty, Goodlife's Vapors Deadly Sin, Five Pawn's Grandmaster, and Suicide Bunny Mothers Milk are simply way overrated or just terrible.

435 Likes - maybe it is really this thread that is overrated? LOL

I can think of Five Pawns Castle long, i was expecting something different but instead it just taste like coconut cookies i used to eat when i was young :) i swear is the exact same taste, the one i have is non barrel but i doubt the "reserved" will make any big difference.

Anything related to hype seems to be a big disappointment for me, i guess people just love to a make a big deal of something new specially if its not easy to get :faceplate:

Anyway IMO (if its ok) AVE Blend-4 is the most underrated liquid I've taste ! fantastic cigar vape :vapor:

Opinions are useless when it comes to juices, it's just a basic guide that may lead to something you may like.
I vape SB Mother's Milk and Five Pawns Grandmaster as two of my top three liquids.
I to have bought and tried juices as much as I can and I too am very picky in what I like.
Higher priced juices seem to make great targets of criticism once people start getting burned out on it, or they bought into the hype and thier preconceptions were wrong. Imo good premium juices only taste as good as the equipment and setup being used, most people can't taste a juice like it should.

I feel if you want to taste a juice to its fullest you should drip it on a good coil and wick setup, and use tanks when portability is necessary.
I'm not knocking people with Vamo and PT2 setups, but that's just a mediocre setup if your trying to test and taste a premium juice.
Kinda like putting premium 93octane gas in a 4-cylinder econobox.

I thought Mothers Milk, it seemed muted to me. Then I tried it again a few weeks later after I got a kayfun and I loved it. I am not sure if the difference was the topper [kayfun vs carto tank] or the extra steep time but now it's great for me. The one that stays in the overrated category is AIV zombie apocalypse, it still seems muted to the point of almost tasteless to me.
Now I just pre-ordered the Five Pawns Castle Long Reserve and will definitely chime in with my opinion when it finally arrives. All I can say at this point, especially having never ordered any Five Pawns before...this stuff better live up to the hype at $44.00 a bottle!

Ouch! That price seems to be going up steadily. I may be wrong, but I thought it was $27.50 at first, then it jumped up to $35, and then up to $37.50. I might find myself sitting with my 6 year old at Christmas time hoping Santa visits if this keeps up.

I was also very excited to try them, but they all had a weird aftertaste, or maybe some base flavor similar in all the mixes, that I just didn't care for. There are other 'complex' high end liquid brands that I like. 5 Pawns isn't one of them.

so, what are the high end flavors do you like?

Mate your getting ripped ! the castle long reserve is 37 bucks and a little something and i think Five Pawns set the prices for resellers, i suggest looking for another vendor.

In my personal experience, if you have to go buy special setups for a juice to taste good, its not a good juice. True mixologists are going to be testing their creations with a range of equipment or voltages both dripping and in clearos knowing those are the most popular... they sure won't be subohm testing for instance. They want their juice to taste good to the majority for sales and not just a select few with special equipment. Not only will they test on a variety of equipment but on a variety of palates just as reviewing panels do... like Spinfuel reviewers who have, usually, half-a-dozen palates. Quality is in education and experience. Anyone can purchase flavoring and use it as it comes adding it to a base just like any DIYer does. Those are the simple flavors and if saving money is a goal and you like that kind of juice, then do simple DIY. The flavoring house created the flavor and the vendor doesn't alter it so you don't have to either. What identifies a mixologist, however, is the ability to take two or more of those and mix them into something totally new. Usually the site will tell the story. If you're seeing the same names, descriptions and/or pictures identifying the juices that you've seen at a handful of sites or more then there probably isn't a true mixologist on board. Price won't tell the story either. Unfortunately, there are both shills and fanboys that can help get a juice priced over the top. So price doesn't mean you're paying for the talents of a mixologist and it doesn't, necessarily, mean its a superior juice.

So, all of the above being said, this is how I buy juice:

1. The site will have only a comparatively few juices... maybe 15 of them as opposed to 40 or more.
2. At least a select few of those will be offered in large sizes like close to 4 ounces.
3. I buy one or two different juices in the smallest size to test... usually only those offered in economy large sizes also.
4. The description of the juice will give me a good idea of taste... IE: I have no idea what a Bunny Track (my fav ice cream) tastes like.
5. I send an email first asking about a specific juice I want to try... for instance, if its a menthol, I ask if it contains any mint flavoring (which is not menthol) or, if its sweet, I ask if the juice contains aspartame which I can't tolerate. The reply, or lack of it, will give me an idea of how much pride a vendor has in both their product and service. It has a chance of also letting me know if a true mixologist made it... they will know exactly what's in it whereas someone just combining flavoring house flavors may not.
6. Finally, and this is only a matter of individual ethics, I look at the vendor's history if I can find one. If they started out with reasonable prices and, at some point, began raising prices that exceed what I deem reasonable (IE rising cost of ingredients, etc).... I stay far, far, away no matter how highly recommended they come.

This is long, I know, but hopefully the half-dozen things I do will save someone from the pricey mistakes I made starting out. By far the largest amount of money I plunked down was on juice... unvapable, to me, juice.

Well, to be fair to the vendor the castle long reserve was $37.50....the rest was shipping cost. Yeah, almost 8 bucks to ship! Isn't that just ridiculous. So I guess I agree with you, probably ripped! I figured it'd sell out as soon as it hit the market so at least the pre- order guarantees my shot at trying this almost impossible to get stuff. Now I'll have to see if it lives up to the hype,

Hopefully you like it but that will also be a big problem since it's not always available like the regular five pawns line [emoji51]

Glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks bobas bounty is terrible. It amazed me how much praise and fan base that juice has. Brutal stuff lol. I've tried hundreds of diff juices and bobas bounty is definitely top 3 worst juices I've ever had. There was another one back in the day too I remember. Kona coffee milkshake or somthing. Stuff tastes like soap, or wd40 or somthing. Yet, so many people loved the crap. Bizarre.

The first time a tried Mothers milk I did not like it. went back to it a month later and now it is great.

I've been vaping for about 4 years, on-and-off. The main reasons why I stopped were because I couldn't find a good, quality liquid vendor.

Full disclosure: I am an absolute taste and smell snob. It's not that I think this makes me 'better' than anyone else (I totally don't), I just have a very sensitive sense of taste and smell. The tiniest strange or chemical undertone can send me into a nauseated tailspin.

I've just started vaping again, and got both of the Five Pawns samplers in the mail. I am absolutely thrilled and blown away by the fact that NONE of these liquids bother me. NONE of them make me nauseated or give me a headache. Is Five Pawns expensive? Hell yes. But not more expensive than my old smoking habit. I'm more than willing to spend the cash to keep me off of the cancer sticks and not make me want to vomit. Is Five Pawns overrated? Possibly. But at this point, I don't really care. To me, they taste amazing and don't cause me to hurl. Win.

But as everyone says, taste is subjective. If you enjoy Dekang Strawberry and can get it for pennies, I salute--and envy--you. If you have the time and energy to invest in DIY, you're my hero. Unfortunately, I don't find myself in either of those camps.

Here's to finding an e-liquid that keeps you from inhaling combustibles! Cheers! :)
