I quit smoking 13 months ago, for 12 months I had reoccurring mouth ulcers. Tried switch to lower mix of PG but never got any better. Was literally 12 months of mouth ulcers every day! In the end it drove me back to smoking tobacco... The day I picked up a pouch of golden Virginia, the mouth ulcers vanished :(

I tried to quit but I seem healthier on tobacco :/

Hi and welcome,
Congrats on your first post!
What did your dentist/doctor have to say about the mouth ulcers?

What device(s) did you use?
What is the brand/flavor/nicotine content of the juice you used?
Did you try 0% PG juice? 0% flavor juice?
Where are you located?
Have you tried Snus?

How long have you smoked and how many per day?

Cheers
I

There you go, a vote for healthy smoking. Best to you DJ. I eliminated my difficulties by switching to a mix of VG and 10% water, just my opinion but, I'll stick with my solution.

safe distance from a black hole
yah, vg and DW = no mouth problems for me.
Well, that and flossing, brushing and general good health.

Finishing touches to oral hygiene and vaping for me was simply replacing wicks regularly and regular cleaning of atties and drip tips.

But, what ever works for you.

That right there is an oxymoron, words tobacco and healthy should never be used in the same sentence.

If i were to guess maybe you are allergic to some of the components in your e-juice.
If that were the cause then a slight tweak might remove the mouth ulcer problem from the equation.

Me personally i wouldn't be so quick and quit right away, would try to find the cause because going back to smoking isn't really a solution nor it seems ''healthier''.

Lot of people here really knowledgeable when it comes to e-juice,wait and see what advice they can offer.

I liked a Key Lime flavor additive mixed in with my ejuice, but the insides of my mouth didn't, and I developed a cold sore. The start time frames were coincidental enough to see if that flavor was the instigator, and it seemed it was. So I don't use that flavor anymore, it seemed like a better idea to me than to start smoking again..

Seems to me like you are not really clear on the various components of juice and how they are impacting you. Juice is made from many things, including nicotine (freebase or salt, salt is less harsh) and PG and VG and flavors. It appears your body does not like one of these things.

You should definitely get the dentist to check your mouth and talk to him about vaping if he knows about it.

Otherwise, You have to do the vape elimination diet. This requires a willingness to DIY (make your own juice.) You start with VG ONLY NO NIC, No mouth sores? Try max VG with a nicotine, well for you I might try a salt, one with "low hit" properties or freebase if you want. Start low and slow and move up on the nic until either mouth sores appear (in which case you back off) or until you get nic satisfaction. .If that is all good, I 'd say add 10% PG your body will let you know if you tolerate it. If you do at all, then you CAN try upping the percentage until you get mouth sores. Then, you know to back off. If you can't handle ANY PG it's fine tor use distilled water up t o 5^ (I say others say 10% definitely not more than 10%) but it will thin your vape.

Finally if you can tolerate a small amount of PG, you start adding flavors. Single flavors only one a at time, and if you can't tolerate PG there are flavor makers who make VG flavors. Your selection will have to be more limited.

All this takes time, patience and paying attention. I sympathize I am PG intolerant (not allergic) and more than 10% gives me unpleasant feelings in my mouth and lungs.

If yo\u really want to vape though this is what you HAVE to do.

Smoking is not healthier than vaping for you .Vaping is FLEXIBLE if you are intolerant to an INGREDIENT there are ways to figure out which one, and manage the problem. LOTS of people do it myself include.

Goad luck with what you decide.

I agree with @stols001 (Anna) Try again... find a way to make this work. I quit smoking for months and just vaped but have slipped back into dual use (and hate myself for it) My only issue with vape juice is I don't like over 35 % PG (bothers my throat) but there are solutions (like the distilled water mentioned) I also agree it could be a flavor issue.

Well at least you tried. I probably would have looked into alternatives and maybe experimented with different ratios of liquid after maybe 2-3 weeks of mouth ulcers. Heck, i may even have tried a forum to see if anyone could give me advice.
Fair play to you for putting up with it for 12 months before going back to tobacco - you didn't say whether you smoked the Golden Virginia or if just picking it up caused the miraculous recovery.
Guess you'll be on the lookout for a smoking forum now.

    Welcome and glad you joined.
Suggest you vape PG only then try VG only. See if either one gives you mouth ulcers. If they both give you mouth ulcers, suggest giving up on vaping.
    Might like to you read:
A list of symptoms when quitting tobacco and changing to an ecigarette
"Section 1: Medical symptoms of tobacco cessation
The following are all symptoms of tobacco smoking withdrawal. They may affect quitters irrespective of the quitting method, and have no relation to the quit method, or lack of one, or alternatives switched to.

What did you attempt to try to work out the mouth ulcers and what did your doctor say? I guarantee that you are not healthier smoking cigarettes however that doesn't mean that vaping is going to work for you. The problems that combustible tobacco cause are usually not as apparent as a mouth ulcer it usually is emphysema COPD cancer blood pressure things like that internal issues that are turning into lifelong conditions that most have no treatment for. Like for example COPD you could quit smoking and develop that years later it wasn't the quitting smoking that caused the COPD it was the smoking it just didn't develop fully for 4 years for you to notice it. So if I were you I would try to find an alternative to smoking that works for you. You could have a PG allergy you could have a nickel allergy there's many different aspects that you could have a problem with that was causing the ulcers so maybe you should try a different smoking cessation product but try to stay away from cigarettes because simply feeling okay while you're smoking cigarettes does not mean that it's not destroying the inside of your body and usually with smoking-related internal injuries and Cancers you don't find out until they are at the end stages so basically you don't know about them until they're too late
