Hi all - after soo much 510 batt troubles I think it's time to consider a move up to a mid size device. Don't know which to get.
Want to stay on a 510 platform as I am familiar with some of the parts I now have in the e-roll and my simple 510 batt with a carto on top.
Any suggestions? I have seen some weird looking set ups - as in one supplier storefront was using some thing that looked like a box shaped homemade tin device - I really can't see me using that.
Also I need to get my partner on vaping. He is a serious smoker and needs badly to quit. I have been vaping for 11 months now.
What's a good next step up from what I have now I wonder?
thanks

An Ego Twist or Vision Spinner would give you much longer battery life and the ability to increase or decrease voltage to suit your preferences, while using all your 510 components. It is still small and pocketable, so I would consider it a mid size.

Getting your partner to consider switching is a more difficult task. I find that unless someone is ready to make a switch, no amount of suggestion or incentive will work. Your ongoing success is probably the most likely example to draw him in to vaping, but it will be on his timetable. Good luck!

Hi, I'm quite new to vaping so I'm sure someone else will add their view. I smoked about 25 a day and it took me some time to completely switch, I started with an ego battery but found that it just didn't last long enough for me. So wanted to upgrade. I got a Vamo V5 (not too expensive) and am very happy with it, you can use 18350 or 18650 batteries and adjust the size of it with an extra tube, which I think is a nice option. My mate got an evic which is a bit more pricey but he loves it. They have variable controls for power and all the safety stuff for the batteries which helps. You do need to buy the batteries and charger seperately - be careful where you buy batteries as I believe that there are a lot of fakes (Particuarly AW ones) from what I have read.

I second the innokin itaste mvp2. It has a 2600mah battery which last me two days of heavy vaping, i like the way the fire button lights either green orange or red depending on battery level, and you can also check the exact voltage left on the battery. Its a tank too, ive dropped mine several times and it keeps on chugging. Vv/vw is also a plus

Well lets see...

I too would recommend the twist variety in 1000mah battery size.
I can vape about 3-4mil on a single charge, which is about a day or more or me. I do use 2 batteries throughout the day however. My first starter kit was a Twist VariBle Voltage starter kit from myvaporstore.com. It is 69.99 and comes with 2 big twist batteries of your choice, 2 clearomizers of your choice, and a charger. It really was the push i needed to quit smoking. I got the 1000mah Ego -C twist and a 1300mah Visio Spinner.

The 1300 mah isnt quite as pocketable however. I recently grabbed an EVOD VV/twist and it combines then best features of both. I found that the Vision Spinner twist dial was too loose and easy to accidentally switc voltage in my pocket, and the dial on te Ego-c twist is too hard to read. The EVOD version solves
Both these issues and is a great product. Highly recommended.

Try letting your significant other borrow one of your devices for the day so he can test the waters
And give it a go with no pressure.
Sometimes the initial financial outlay is too muc for us so we need that push.
Let him try it out with a flavor he enjoys and it should turn out that he loves vaping! I know that i needed some help finding the right device to suit my needs and he may be the same. Show him/her how great vaping can be by avoiding cheap drugstore brands that fail to work well.
That experience may leave a bad taste in his mouth. It certainly did for me....(yes im talking to you, Blu...)

Ego Twist-..I'll say $15+ for one from a vendor that can be trusted, with a dial most have to squint to read and will move around in pocket, with a connector that can easily snap off. I guess EVOD solved the dial issue, but I doubt it will be resistant to pocket movement for its entire life.

itaste vv3- $26 with a digital display, ohmmeter, pasthrough capable, and is lighter than an ego of the same size(800mAh)..not to mention, if push comes to shove and you can't afford a whole new set-up, you can get a 14500 battery and rather easily replace it with, with a little technical know-how.

You can get some eGos. I vaped on those bad boys for at least 5 months, I moved to a mech as an electrician the science seems bad on all these chipped vv/vw mods.

Why is that? If there was a chip that would give me a level voltage in a mech, I'd gladly support that statement...but I don't get how you're saying the science is bad..especially throwing in the fact you're an electrician..the same applications are applied in substations..step-voltage regulators...

I have seen some good suggestions, however none of us really know what you are looking for.

Ego Style, simple, name brands are fairly reliable, can be had with VV. About the size of a cigar, has a built in battery and when it stops holding/taking a charge the unit is meant to be disposed of.

MVP2, has more features, VV/VW, ohm checker, large built in battery, good product. It is a box style, whether that is a positive or negative is up to the end user. Built in battery, meant to be disposed of when it no longer takes a charge, however given the rather sizable battery, this one will go awhile before the battery bites the dust.

Itaste V3, feature wise is about the same as the MVP2, both are Innokin products, a fairly good Chinese brand. Pretty much everything the big boys offer, in an Ego size. The big drawback is the battery is only 800 mah, so shorter charge life, also with more recharging the overall life span of the battery is shorter.

Vamo V?, Value priced APV with lots of features, uses changeable batteries in either the 18350 or 18650 size. Rather big and heavy and does require buying batteries and a charger. Vamo can be hit and miss with Q.C. Built by more than one company and it is hard to say which ones are good and which ones to avoid. My V2 Vamo has been going over a year, some die in days/weeks.

Sigelei Zmax, pretty much the same features as a Vamo, does use a one button menu. V3 and V5 telescope, giving you a choice of 18xxx battery sizes. More costly than the Vamo, but the Sigelei version has a pretty decent reputation for quality. Like the Vamo, this requires buying batteries and a charger.

Maybe you narrow it down some as what features and price range you are looking at. All the above have 510 connections, another one to check out is the Innokin SVD, telescopes like the Zmax, has more than one button if one button menus scare you, and is highly regarded.

I third that. I LOVEEEE my Zmax v5. It works great with my 3 ohm cartomizer and the battery will last me for 2 days solid. Plus you have the VV/VW option, and you can use 1 18350 battery, 1 18650 battery, or 2 18350 batteries. These batteries you take out of your mod to charge unlike the MVP(once the battery is done you will have to get a new one).

Its all about preference though. Both mods are about the same price. I would look around online and find a cheaper one than you might be able to pick up in the store.

Hope this helps!

The Joyetech Ego twist will use my current 510 usb chargers?

Can it also use carto's or is it as per the adverts - a 4 piece system set up?
I start to think not for me when I read about options like setting voltage and such.
I really like plug-and-play...not a high tech person here. I don't mind changing the parts in my ERoll, but that's the extent of my expertise.
and - I really have to snicker when I see those boxy shaped vape units....it's just not me..
K - you can tell by now that Im a chick..lol ....not a princess though - just want to step up from the 510 - and I really like automatic.

The charger is the one part that you'll need to replace for any Ego type of battery, whether a standard Ego or a Twist or Spinner. They are inexpensive though. Ego batteries have 510 threading on the inside and Ego threading on the outside, so they will work with all 510 cartos as well as the devices that need a Ego thread, like the Kanger Evod.

You don't need variable voltage versions - a regular Ego battery will still be a nice move up in capacity from the 510, and is just as easy to use. There are some automatic Ego batteries out there but only a few sources, mostly variable voltage - eGo Variable Volt Automatic Battery - Avid Vaper . As most everything bigger than a 510 is a manual button, you might need to adjust to that.

You may find that a regular Ego will be more than enough for a long time. They are available in battery capacities from 350mah, like a super 510, to 1300mah, which for many is an all day battery. After nearly three years, my wife prefers a high power Ego device with clearomisers, just fill it and go. If it could be cigarette sized and automatic and last all day, she'd be in heaven.

One tip - if it's going to be knocked around in a purse, get the stainless ones, as the painted ones will scratch up pretty quickly! Good luck in your quest!

thanks for all the input - lots of options.
Am interested in the Baretta battery -
want: automatic if possible
cigarette/cigar sized, not box type battery
don't need 2 days of battery capacity-am able to charge frequently
just want more reliable batt than the 510 I use now
want more vape impact for new user (him) more than 510 auto and ERoll
want simple set up for him to use - like the 510 now - just fill your carto and pop on
Problem - in Toronto I know of only TWO vendors that you can see in person. Dunno know what's up but all the rest remain online.
So hard to get a product in your hand to check it out.
