I like the kayfun and the russian too (don't own them, but I've tried others') and I'll probably pick one up at some point, but I like having easier access to the coil for adjustments. Roonies, if you've recoiled protank heads (or similar) before, you'd be fine starting with the russian, but if you've never built a coil before, you might prefer having a top coil rba to start off with... with the bottom coil RBAs, you have to disassemble it to get down to the coil, so making adjustments is a little more fiddly. With a top coil rba, all you have to do is pull the top cap off to get to the coil.

Thanks for all the input guys! I've built countless protank and evod heads....started on vivi nova rebuilds so I'm comfortable with those. I just want easy and something I don't have to redo every other day. I figured this is the next logical step, even though I never really pictured myself doing the RBA's. I guess my quest to learn new things and love of gadgets, along with that search for the perfect vape, is driving me at this point.

I have I think about 15 RYs at the moment and it is one of my favorites. I will say it is quite different than most RYs though.:2c:

MBV's RY4 was a big miss for me. It leaned very heavily in the tobacco-like RY4 department, even had an odd, almost clove-like taste. I have fallen for TFA's Double RY4, though. Straight up caramel and vanilla lushness. Bought a 120ml bottle of just the flavoring recently as I flew through the first two, smaller bottles of concentrate in about a month. I'm mixing 3mg now, and at 15% flavor I only need 7.5ml of the Double RY4 for 50ml of juice. At 3mg, my DIY is almost entirely VG and flavoring.

I just received this one yesterday HCIGAR Kayfun 3.1 | Luxor Vapes and still playing with it. I tried the Navy Nest build this morning I'm just not sure what I think yet.

This is very true, as evidenced by my 10 builds before I got it where I wanted it. lol Now that I have it down I'll probably build a new coil once a month and just rewick when it is time to refill the tank. Could probably go longer between rewicking if I used silica, but the cotton is cheap and easy.

Roonies, I'd suggest the IGO-L. I have 3, my lady has one. I also have the IGO-W, but I am fine with a single coil and prefer the L in general. It's cheap, easy to build on (although some complain because there are no holes in the posts, you wrap the coil legs around the screws), has lots of room for different style coils, and gives off good flavor, especially with cotton. You can dual coil one just fine if you want, as well. I set mine up and only fiddle with them to change cotton and dry burn the coil clean. Most consistent, easy to maintain item in my vaping arsenal. The coil I'm using right now is about 5 weeks old. Looks like it could go another five, but I tend to rebuild just for fun and science. I absolutely love them and will probably one day have many more. Solid, easy to use, and inexpensive.

wow I mix RY4D at 10% and it gets to be too much for me had to drop it to 8%

What is your base percentage? I'm mixing pure VG (besides flavoring). At 20%, it was a bit much, but I liked how it stuck around in the wicking and would sort of poke it's head out while vaping other flavors. I haven't tried the 15% yet, but I am confident it'll be just right for me.

I've heard a lot of good things about IGOs too. Honestly, what sold me on the Kraken, other than the fact that I love the way it looks, is the airflow control and the ease with which it can be adjusted. So many RBAs either don't have air flow control, or adjusting it is a pain (unscrew this to loosen that to spin this, then tighten it all back down and hope it's where you want it, etc). With the Kraken and its clones, the air flow control is on the top cap, so I don't have to touch anything else to adjust it, and I don't have to worry about juice leaking through the air holes when I fill it (because it's not a bottom coil.)

In the end, I fully expect to own an Igo of some description, an AGA of some description, a russian/kayfun of some description, and a Kracken or two of some description, so I'm not saying any of the above are bad... but the above, plus plenty of room to work on the deck, is why I went with a chi-krack *first*. Others' needs and preferences may be entirely different. :)

You may be selling me on a Kraken. I am a fiddler by nature. Even when I have a coil running optimally, I will pop my cap on the IGO and toy with it. Always trying to dial in that perfect vape. Seems like that will be easier to do with the Kraken. I'm not really too concerned about having a tank anymore, I can get through my day with two 18650's, my K-100/IGO-L, and one or two bottles of juice. I have grown to love dripping above just about everything, with cartos being a strong second place.

Yet that Kraken seems to be calling my name. I can always get a Russian or Kayfun down the road, right? :p

+1 on the IGO-L or -W (don't need to build both coils) and top pick of mine for a startin' Genny is the RSST...

My RY(ish) is a concoction for sure, RY4 double TFA, Hangsen Deluxe tobacco flavoring, then additional caramel, bavarian cream and vanilla swirl for a total of 7.5% to 8% flavorings if I remember correctly. I stay 3 months ahead for a long steep, vape this the first 3 - 4 hours Im at work :)

It's very easy to fiddle with the Kraken, yes... I play with it every hour or two just for fun and to see what happens. I also love how easily it can keep up with my chain vaping... I stuck a single coil in there and dropped an extra piece of cotton down the second wick hole, and brought it around so that it's just barely touching the outside of the coil... that keeps it wicking like a dual coil setup without burning through twice the juice like a dual coil does. The air flow control is a thing of beauty... the way it works is, there's a hole on the top cap on either side (aligned with the wick holes) but underneath that is another piece of steel with various cutouts (you can see it very well in Mark Todd's Kraken vid). To adjust it, you just rotate the top edge of the top cap. That way, instead of having to pick a hole size, you can dial it in to *exactly* how you like it... as well as closing off one of the holes entirely if you're running a single coil.

I love the versatility of it... I've filled the tank, of course, but if I want to drip something instead, I can do that too. My little 510 testing atty has been lonely since I got this thing.
