Caramel Candy, Creme Brulee, and Honey will all definitely require steeping. Juicy Fruit might steep faster than the others. Some vapers can actually taste the nic in juices, so you might actually be tasting nic (but I doubt it...it is usually described as a sharp flavor). The cheapie clearo could also be a culprit...did you wash it out before using? Some of them have off flavors themselves, but again, I can't say that the clearo is the problem since one of them tasted fine. Since the free Americana tasted fine, it is likely that you need to steep your juices before trying them again. Here are some steeping tips posted earlier in the thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...sion/285341-mtbakervapor-195.html#post9138107

I didn't wash the clearos as they were new but I don't think that was it. I'm grateful for your steeping tips and advice, I'll try steeping and post my results. Thanks again Stoneface!:toast:

I would contact the good folks at MBV and tell them exactly what you said here (esp. with the sample being good.) Sounds like they had a batch base batch or something.

I contacted them and they had the same advice, to allow the flavors to steep. They said between 1-3 weeks should do it so I guess I'll just have to be patient. I am going to try the stovetop method and see how that works.

Just be careful to use low heat...the LDPE bottles that MBV uses will melt pretty easily, it's a soft plastic :)

I still a noob when it comes to juice. I just recently started branching out from tobacco flavor. Forgive my ignorance, but what is steeping?
BTW... Caramel Candy, Creme Brulee, and Honey MMmmmm
Steeping is essentially aging the juice. When it is mixed fresh, the flavors have not combined very well. Shaking can help a fresh juice, but shaking over time is better. There are other methods as well, linked above...

How long would you typically age (steep) a juice for to get the beat flavor out of it?

I use an ultrasonic cleaner, so for me it is days :D If you don't have one of those, then simpler more responsive flavors steep in a week or less. More complex flavors take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks...tobacco flavors definitely need longer to steep. There are some that I like straight from the mailbox, no steeping required. If you're looking for no-need-to-steep flavors, I like Root Beer, Solar Flare, Extreme Ice, Thug Juice, Key Lime, and Hawk Sauce as soon as I get them (but YMMV).

LOL.... Since I have been following this thread I have realized that with each question you guys answer for me I have 5 new questions related to the answer. I feel like I need to do some more research to keep up with the lingo. Can you recommend a good thread that explains the basics so I can find out more about what an ultrasonic cleanser is and what some best practices with juice are? Pardon my noobness :?:

Welcome to the world of vaping! You learn something new everyday - it's more stimulating than nic! There's a post a few pages back by Mogli that has several steeping threads. Or, do a search on "steep". You'll come up with tons. Also, just for the sake of noobness, did you know that when you see a word underlined in a post, you can point your mouse to it and a textbox will come up that explains that term or acronym. I didn't know that at first - it can be helpful. There are more acronyms and abbreviations here than my field (education!)

Thanks... That textbook thing is helpful. This is really the first forum I have participated in and not just read. I guess that I am just very excited about vaping. I feel like I caught the bug. One of the problems that I am having in general is that there is so much information available in the search that I get overwhelmed. I am sure that a lot of my questions have been answered elsewhere but the answers are spread over so many different topics. Am I being rude by asking the same questions over again?

More stimulating than Nic(k), you say?? I don't know, babe.. I'm awfully stimulating ;) LOL

Question to All:

Is there any difference in quality of Mt. Baker's juice when order in large quantities? I'm thinking about ordering the 236ml bottle of RY4 and wanted to make sure it's the same quality as the 15ml bottle before I get myself stuck with 236ml of ejuice lol.

On a related note, my aunt's BFF just got a bunch of MBV juice. She doesn't want to do the two days of caps off that I do with all my juices to evaporate the alcohol (I really can tell a the difference when I haven't) because she's got a load of cats who she's convinced will knock them over. I've hardly tried any MBV juices, myself. Will she be fine leaving the caps on?

(ETA - Tanks popped up above me...not so related a note anymore, but still.)

Caps off is to evaporate the alcohol from the flavoring.
An ultrasonic cleaner will accelerate the airing and steeping considerably.
I have a $30 el cheapo but still get fully steeped juice in hours (over the course of a day or so).
It's worth the $30 to me and will probably upgrade to a more robust UC unit YMMV

A lot of vapers do the caps-off thing in a closet.
Keep the cats out of the closet and voila!

:vapor: VAPE MAIL!!! All 6mg: 30 ml Cider Fire extra shot, 15mls of Twilight, Hawk Sauce, and Peach Melt Down. Freebie was 12 mg America. I know Cider Fire has to steep so am leaving that one alone for a week, have enough left of the other one until then. All the others were great right out of the mail box, and will only get better with time. Adult daughter has discovered vaping 0 nic helps her asthma, so she ordered.. Spearmint, Mojito, Cider Fire, and Solar flare all at 0 nic. Someone at MBV was paying close attention and the freebie they sent HER was Cinnamon Roll at 0 nic!! Which she 'donated' to my cinnamon roll habit..lol. She absolutely loves Solar Flare, and says Mojito tastes just like one. She is letting spearmint and Cider fire steep. She's using cartos on an eGo to vape. MBV has made another fan...lol

I would say steeping is extremely important with a lot of MBV's juices. For instance, I tried MBV's RY4 right out of the mail with no steeping and it tasted strange/bad but after only 36 hours of steeping, a juice that I originally hated turned into my favorite all-day juice. I am willing to bet that after 3-4+ more days of steeping this juice is going to be amazing.

As stated above, I think steeping is very important for complex flavors (e-juices that consist of multiple flavors combined into one) - not so important for other, less complex flavors.

Does your friend have cabinets? Maybe she could put a few bottles of e-juice in her cabinets or in a drawer where the cats can't get to them?

Yup. I keep 'em in my closet. But she has the swing-door type closet, and she's also sorta paranoid to begin with. It's a no go for her. Doubt she'll put the $ into any ultrasonic cleaner. Guess I'll just tell here that it might lessen her vaping pleasure and let her do her thing. I was just wondering if it makes enough of a difference that I should have her send them to me to stick in my closet. Probably I was just hoping folks would chime in with "no need for MBV!" I'm big on wishful thinking:p:p!

ETA - Thanks, Tanks. Why couldn't she just put them in with her cups and bowls in a closed cabinet? I've had my sacred vape closet of steeping for so darn long that my head was stuck on that or nothing :)facepalm:!). Much appreciated "duh"!
