Good golly this thread moves so fast sometimes!

Cheri, thank you very much for all the info you provide. I like all your long posts, they're packed with good info. :)

And yay, I've got some Afternoon Delight on it's way. I thought I'd get it today, but nothing. Weird....my first handful of orders came so fast. The last two have taken a while. The last one was USPS's fault, I think. This one may be, too. But I never got an email saying my order shipped (it does say shipped on the website) but I don't have a tracking number. Not a huge deal....but I am getting a little sick of Johnny Chimpo. May be time to break out the Hawk Sauce and see if my tastebuds are back to their normal selves!

Oh, and good "morning" everyone!

I have a job interview coming up with blah blah airlines Monday (don't wanna jinx myself :p) and I am SO nervous. Wish me luck! Friggin flight attendant interviews are like trying out for American Idol or some such. No lie. Hardest process I've ever been through.

I had placed 3 different orders with them and didn't get any tracking number either so I contacted them and was told they are using a new shipping program and trying to get the kinks out, after talking to them 2 of my orders got tracking numbers now.

oh gosh, if you ordered the root beer on my recommendation, i do hope you like it.

and i have not tried root beer float yet, sorry

Ordered 50/50 12mg;
30mil Butterscotch
30mil Surprise Grape
15mil Root Beer
15mil Freckled Lemonade
15mil Afternoon Delight

I'm not sure why I've taken this long to order Root Beet, I have tried every soda vendor's incarnation but I'm partial to Mug.

Good luck with the interview! I had to laugh at your "pull the string" canned answers in a subsequent post - I'm sure several of those get asked a million times a day. :D

Speaking of Root Beer flavor - I'm vaping it right now and I agree that it tastes more like a root beer candy than actual root beer. It's definitely one that benefits from steeping too - it had a chemical smell/taste right out of the mail, but after a two-week steep it's much improved. Not one of my favorites, but far from unvapeable.

Thanks everyone! It's always a special kind of hell....smiling, being bubbly and sociable for about 12 hours after a 5:45 am flight to the interview location..... They really do push you, because it's not a job, its a lifestyle and they want to weed out those who can't hack it.

You have no idea.

I also have a string in my back that I pull with 5 or 6 responses to questions that just about everyone asks:

"Yes, you'll make your connection."
"No, this isn't my regular route. We fly all over and rarely the same place twice in one day."
"Yes, the company pays for my hotel rooms on my overnights."
"No, the ash tray isn't a door handle. Push the door to enter the lav."
"No, I do not have a boyfriend in every city."
"I have no idea what lake/land mass/time zone we're over at the moment."

(Seriously though, most people are great and it's a very fun job. :) )

I just remember the TV reality show about hiring flight attendants, it was hilarious to to watch their reactions to different situations. The only question I ever ask is "Can I have the whole can." Those dixie cups hole less than the bag of peanuts I'm supposed to be grateful for. Any inside information/tips that would make flights more enjoyable?

Big,

I fly a lot for business, probably 15-20 times a year, and I always get a bottle of water or gatorade in the airport. That way, I ask for only a cup of ice, and usually pour the ice into the drink so that it stays colder longer. Just make sure that whatever drink you buy comes in a wide mouth bottle.

Not sure if that helps, but it is something I do pretty much every time.

I already looked into driving to Fairbanks, Alaska. It would take almost 6 days. . . ain't nobody got time for that.

yeah that's a bit of a haul. but have you noticed that the airlines very seldom advertise how "enjoyable" their flights are anymore? cause they aren't! :p

the last two times i have flown the planes have been packed like sardine cans. and everybody carries on their luggage, so there is no room in the overheads. i don't fly often, but dread it when i do.

I met them at Vapefest in NY as well, it was a great time. I went there with $$$ to buy their juices, but they were not selling, they were giving away 15ml samples. I got White Out, Ocean Breeze, and a few other flavors, pretty cool !!!
I had exactly the same experience, but I talked to them for over an hour!! Really nice guys, both of them!

Cheri I talk for a living so I completely get it. In person I can get a little overly chatty. But since I use my phone when on ECF I tend to keep the talking to a minimum.

I usually read and reply from my laptop, but I just installed both Tapatalk and the ECF Forum app on my tablet and my phone so let's see if I start being a bit more succinct when I'm responding from either of those. :p At the very least, it should help me to keep up better and not have 10-20 pages to catch up on if I miss a day.

I did actually compose a reply from my tablet last week while I was waiting for my color to process at the the salon (just using the regular website on Dolphin Browser) and found myself being just as chatty though. So much so that I didn't get a chance to finish everything I had to say before my time was up! Oops!

(If the flight is over an hour I always give cans....not supposed to, but yeah.....one little cup WITH ice makes for about 2 tablespoons of soda otherwise.)

Make sure you know the company's carry on policy before you go, for all of your connections. All of the majors contract out their regional flying to either wholly owned subsidiaries or independent regional airlines. They all fly under whatever carrier's name they fly for (For instance, and you may already know this, but Republic is now flying under the "American Eagle" brand, and they both do regionals for AA....so it will just show up as AA on your ticket) The regionals have different policies than the mothership, including carry on policies and whether or not they take cash or credit, among other things. If you flew your first leg on Eagle you'd be required to check your carry on on the jetbridge (small planes, no carry on policy) and you'd have to bring cash for any onboard purchases. For your AA leg, you could bring the carry on with you and you can only use your credit/debit card.

Anyway, I said all that to say that the more information you have before you go, the better off you'll be. :)

Always obey your flight crew's instructions. Like it or not, it's a federal offense not to. They're not being mean. You may think it's stupid to have to turn off your phone until 10k feet, but it's the FAA, not us, making those policies. And a crew member can have you removed for not following instructions. (I'm sure everyone here is much too sweet to be mean to a flight attendant though. ;) )

Bring a bag of chocolate for your flight attendants! We love treats, and you will get first class service regardless of your location! It is a hard, thankless, low paying job and a little kindness goes a LONG way with us. :)

And on that note greet us back when we say hi, good morning, good afternoon to you. We say it about 500 times a day and you'd be surprised how many people glare at us or ignore us altogether. haha Is it so hard to meet a smile with a smile and say hi back? ;)

And regardless of my comment before, we (or I anyway) really don't mind the questions. I quite enjoy telling people about my job and the lifestyle that goes along with it. I understand that people feel out of their element on planes and do silly things sometimes (like forget how to open a door haha).

But yeah, just common sense stuff. :) Be informed and be nice to your crew. Makes all the difference in the world.

Now TSA is another matter..... :glare:

Yeah, I got stuck on a 3 hour flight in a seat in front of the exit row so it didn't recline. That was painful. All in all though I don't mind flying, it's usually not too bad once you get through security. Many times you can get bumped up to first or business class for $50 or $100 so if the seats aren't sold too and for long trips it is well worth it.

I'm just really glad I don't have to fly 3 times a week like I used to for work. Those airline miles are quite nice however.

Oh I hate those dinky little cups they give you for water!! Especially when they usually give you the whole can if you ask for a ginger ale. Last time I flew a couple weeks ago, I brought my 24 oz water travel mug along (contigo, hold down the big button on the back to drink). Had to empty it before going through security of course but once on the flight, I asked the flight attendant to just pour water right in there instead. Didn't give me a full 24 ounces but about 10, at least more than those stinkin' cups! Plus no spillage and I can store it in the seat pocket to boot.

With a stop in Denali National Park. It would be the adventure of a lifetime. Go for it.

I'll go with ya man, we'll have a blast! Always wanted to go to Alaska and do some photography. :D
