I thought I would try my hand at wrapping my own coils, so I ordered an IGO-L. I figured it would also bring out the flavors in my juices. It arrived yesterday and I immediately wrapped my first coil with 2mm silica and 28g kanthal. Well, being the newbie that I am, I wrapped a 0.65 ohm coil (good thing I bought that K101 mech a few weeks ago.) I loaded up the IGO-L with Morning vape and BAM! Tons of vapor, tons and tons of flavor, and unfortunately tons of heat. I switched out the big mouth shorty drip tip for a skinny 2+ inch long Captivape drip tip which helped cool the vapor reaching my mouth, but the damage was already done. The freshly charged 18650 batt sending 4.2 volts to that 0.65 ohm coil had scorched my wick. Ugh! Guess I better check out the atomizer rebuilding thread on ECF. On the bright side, this little rda packs a punch with MBV juices.
Please be careful with rebuildables!!!!! You really need to know what you are doing with 0.65Ω (or any sub-ohm) coil!! For starters, don't ever use an 18350 battery for them either. Please start with at least a 1.2Ω coil and work your way down as you read and learn...it is a much safer place to start. I recommend getting a fuse for mechanical mods (such as a Vape Safe). Vaping is only fun if you still have a face and hands to vape with.

Exactly what I was thinking! I was just reading a thread last night about the real dangers of inexperienced folks going for that big huge vapor cloud with mech mods and sub-ohm micro coils. Not saying the OP, Kevo56, doesn't know what he's doing. but this is serious stuff here and it's all good until someone blows their face off....(sorry, I didn't know how to insert multiple quotes to include Kevo's). There is always going to be something newer, shinier, and more powerful so it pays to educate oneself. Me, I'm just starting to rebuild vivi nova heads and am thinking about moving up from my spinners after 3 and a half months of perfectly satisfactory, no, actually quite awesome vaping with just a VV twist device. With regulations right around the corner it does the vaping community no service if devices are exploding because of risky usage by people not fully aware of or educated in the use of said devices......ok....that was kind of a rant....no offense meant....just please be careful people! On topic....I am slowly working my way through my little 15ml. bottle of Blu Moo and it's so delicious. I'm ordering 50ml.'s of this one when it's back in stock!!...so tasty with whipped cream too!

I didnt get the IGO-L for clouds,it is a nice byproduct though.I got it because 1-I like to tinker and 2-Everybody said dripping in a RDA gives the best flavor.I did drill out my airhole and that helped with flavor and vapor production.Havnt wrapped a sub ohm coil yet.I'm wrapping micro coils so sub ohm coils arent required for huge clouds.Thats why micro coils are becoming so popular, you get sub ohm performance without the dangers. My current coil is 1.4 ohms and works great. The great thing is being able to take the top off and adjust the coil just a smidge up or down in front of the airhole and changing the flavor, vapor and TH.When you find that sweet spot,it is truly magical...lol....I'm blowing huge flavorful clouds of Sticky Bun right now with no sub ohm worries.:D:toast::vapor:

+1 for micro coils...mine are all simple and straightforward, but very good flavor :) They somehow take off that bit of edge of Ice flavors, making them very smooth :toast:

Now, if I could only devise a way to turn my Sportster into a PVD that would be awesome! :p

You're pretty savvy and know a lot more than I do. I'm learning something new every day it seems. Thanks for adding to my growing wealth of knowledge. I've been hearing a lot about micro coils lately but didn't know why they were all that and a bag of chips! :D

Thanks, Stoneface. I am using a fuse. I've watched a few vids on rebuilding, and made sure I didn't have any shorts (that's short circuits, I'm not going commando here) and test fired looking for hot spots before vaping with it. I just got the wrong gauge kanthal for the job. I'm going to look into wrapping micro coils, and also get some smaller gauge wire for future wraps.

OK, good news. Thanks for posting back, after I read my post it could've been taken as harsh but I certainly didn't mean it that way. I really like the micro coils on the IGO-L. This is a really good micro coil thread, with great helpful guys. Give it a read: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...271-micro-coils-increase-vapor-flavor-th.html . Good luck with it :thumb:

I have seen this explained...instead of "For The Win," the possible TOS infraction relates to "Screw The World" which is not allowed to be posted...

Ah, never heard that before, :toast: for the information

Will u PM me too please? I just have to know! Lol

If you still need the skinny on the low-down, shoot me a PM and I'll try to explain what utopia on earth may be like...lol

Will we ever see the knuckle deep avi again? Just sayin'.... :D

Is this a fetish type thing

Wow thank you so much for the detailed advice paleodian!! This is really helpful. I've only been vaping a few months so I'm still learning all this stuff..I just recently ordered the 555 so I'll give that a whirl. I'm just looking for an all day vape similar to an anolog (minus the nastiness of course). I've ordered a lot of fruity and specialty flavors for at night when I'm just chillin....

Your post is informative and pointing me in the right direction...thanks so much for the info.:)

Pale, has become the resident expert on MBV, bacos. In fact I will be giving them a try very soon.

Can you build a coil worth a dang? If so stick with the mech's and hold out for a Provari :)

Are you putting a Protank on a mech?

+1 for the Provari, but if cost is an issue you wont go wrong with a Vamo either.
+1 for the KPT (I use eight in rotation) I love the airy draw on them. But if you like a tight draw, than -1 for a KPT.

my :2c:

I laughed too,just razzin ya.

Thanks

I did sleep on it....been in my cart since lastnight.

Yup,got a nice 1.4ohm micro coil on my IGO-L right now.Nope, the Protank is for the Vamo.

For the CLS you'll want to have the Micro coil and run it at mega Watts (88) on a mech (with no burning!?!?). If you don't know what I'm talking about go to the vendor forum for CLS and you'll find the answer.

I wouldnt even know how to begin to get 88 watts out of a mech....sounds scarey to be honest with ya...just used a volts/watts/ohms calculator and even at .25ohms and a fresh battery at 4.2 volts I only come up with about 70 watts BUT it's also almost 17 amps....17 amps on an Efest battery is no bueno...hell 17 amps on an AW battery is no bueno...would probably have to step up to an MKNE or whatever it is to get somewhat safe with those numbers.

I had been buying liquid from a local vape shop recently that I will not name. It was there own brand juice. It just happened to be convenient more than choice. I felt like my coil heads where getting way bad to quick Even after a good cleaning. Then I purchased some new heads and was still not getting what I needed out of it. Then I ordered from Mt Baker Vapor and came to realize it wasn’t my setup it just so happed that it was the liquid I was using. Even the old coil heads I had were working as good as new. I guess I had forgot what vaping quality liquid was like. Plus I am getting almost 3 times the liquid for the same price! I will not make that mistake again just for the convenience. After a while you start to really notice the difference from juice to juice. You can’t go wrong with Mt Baker Vapor.

Speakig of stepping down the nic, how hard is/was it for everyone? I first started in July at 24mg, quickly realized it was making me sick and got down to 12mg. I suspect I could cut that in half again but I have over 30 bottles of 12mg from MBV now.

I have been at 12mg for about 3 months. I vape alot. Concidering going up to 18mg actually.
