So sorry Dusty....and speaking from personal experience...you need to get another doctor. I had gallbladder attacks for years. I finally went in, not during an attack and they scheduled an ultra sound. I had it a couple days later and it clearly showed a gall stone the size of a golf ball. I was in surgery having the gallbladder removed a couple of weeks later and haven't had a problem since. So you do not need to be in the middle of an attack for an image to show the stones. I'd go to the VA if that's what you need to do to get this taken care of. I remember all the nights of sleeping sitting up and feeling like I was having a heart attack if I even slightly moved. Nothing to mess around with my friend. Hope you can get this taken care of SOON....it's the worst pain next to kidney stones and childbirth!!....oh, and getting stabbed...although I don't know how that feels......sending healing vibes buddy!!
edited to add. Gall bladder surgery is a same day surgery, barring any complications. I was in and out in about 4 hrs. and laid around over the week end....then good to go...easy peasy....there is absolutely no reason for you to suffer another attack.

Actually no, and I have no idea of when or how I will be able to get this damn thing taken care of, I swear these people are fricken idiots, on several occasions I have experienced extreme pain right below my breast bone and dismissed it at first as I thought I may have over worked myself with the weights and just caused some muscle damage or a possible hernia, but after a day it went away, didn't think anything of it until the next time, which actually put me to my knees, it felt like someone had stabbed me right below my breast bone, (and yes, I do know what it's like to be stabbed, had that happen before) anyway again the pain disappeared after about 6 hours and then nothing for another 6 months or so, then it happened again and I knew it had nothing to do with the weights this time as I was working a different set of muscles and after being in Martial Arts for well lets just say quite a large number of years it wasn't gong away as quickly so I went to the ER, spent 6 1/2 hours in there and they came back to tell me I have Gallstones and was waiting to see when I could have surgery, well the idiots in the ER radiology department did not put down how big or how many stones were in there, I have had 3 attacks this past week each coming around 3 - 5 am, so today I went to see what can be done and I just got the typical run around and was told that nothing could be done until I had another attack and then they would be able to do another US and document the size of the stones and how many and then should be able to do the surgery. So this mean I have to wait again until I have that stabbing pain, run to the friggen hospital and have them to another US while I am in this pain so that has to be done when the gallbladder is constricted so they can get an accurate reading on them and go from there! What a crock of crap..... being told I can't eat any damn thing other then chicken broth etc, BS that's not happening. So upon whenever the next damn attack takes place then I will get to go back to the damn ER and go through all the BS again to document the size of them. I am not a very happy camper to say the least. I was given prescriptions for 6 different medications of which cost a damn fortune as I don't have heath care insurance since I am still not working. If I went to the VA I would have to go to Gainesville and still get the run around.

Anyway, that was my day! Not happy...... AT ALL!

Geez reading this I am frustrated and angry , too.
This is terrible.
and it makes no sense.
When gall bladder was acting up my pain was on my right side and toward my back.
Did they check your heart? at least an EKG?
I lived w/out insurance for 3 years so I understand your plight.
I am just so sorry and I will add you to my prayers, if that is okay with you.
Otherwise I will upload some positive vibes and energy.
Hugs (weird from a total stranger, I know, but it seems appropriate).

Oh, that just reminded me...I have a bottle of pear to send you...maybe I can find some others in my stash you might like....I'm such a dork..totally forgot I was going to do that!! sorry......

Honesty when I first got my first one, the taste was aweful on inhale but could taste the apple on exhale, so I just put it away and it steeped for 3 weeks, I decided to give it another go and to me it was like biting into a big juicy ripe red apple, I have gone through 3 30ml bottles of it, it does need a long steep time, but I really like it, very refreshing and taste just like I mentioned above. I haven't tried Pear though, just tried the Prickly Pear, which I like but I love the Red Apple.

I know, thank you very much sweetie, yes the pain can be very intense. I am on a waiting list for the VA but have been told unless it is an emergency that it will be a few months before I can be seen there. I'll just go to the other Hospital when I get another attack, I have it with this, been dealing with it for some time now and it's not something I wish to continue to deal with as was so not nicely put by the doctors I have seen. They just state, well people deal with it all the time and watch what they eat, etc, etc, I have no desire to watch what I eat, I want to eat what I want when I want to! :D

Well I have come to think of everyone in this forum section as family so it's not weird and it is actually appreciated very much! Oh, yeah, I had everything checked out, if I had health insurance other then what is covered by the VA this would have been over with a year ago. Sometimes the attacks are more of just an annoyance but other times it's like being stabbed and yes I have had shooting pain behind my shoulder blade and cannot get comfortable not matter what position I am in other then a little relief lying flat on my back, the problem with that is I cannot sleep that way, I sleep on my side, but with and attack it's unbearable. I have one more appointment that will hopefully be next week, if they don't do what I ask then I will just have to wait for the list for the VA an go up there.

I have a cat condo/tree that's going to take up half the wall coming from Amazon....do I have to sign for it? My cats are going to freak! Hopefully this will help curb their intense animosity towards each other. On topic...I'm so excited! I filled a carto tank with vanilla cupcake, steeped for over a month, and it was just so great! Finally a vanilla I could taste. I'll be ordering more of this one!

Helps to figure out which toys they will each play with and wear them out each day playing, too.

Some of the automated toys can help with that. Have you seen the fling-ama-string? My friend's cats adore theirs. I'd get one, but I have very few doors downstairs...

I feel for you because when you're in the midst of an attack it's intense, and not in a good way. You would qualify as an emergency case at the VA, I would think, if you tell them that you are having regular attacks. You never know when they're going to come up, but you can be sure they will happen more often. I'm not saying to lie or anything like that, but the nature of the beast is that while you're in the midst of an attack, in a few hours, it passes, so it's kind of hard to be there while you're having an attack. I know I could never drive while having one. I could't even move an inch. I'm hoping for the best for you. I really am....with that....I'll stop adding my 2 cents.

Oh trust me, if I wind up getting another one that is really bad, I will not be driving. As for the VA, there a bit over an hour away and in a different county then I am, I have 2 hospitals that are 15 minutes away and are next to each other, I will just go to ORMC an d not MRMC the next time and just have them get it done!
