What a life man. Your positive attitude is amazing. Don't know I could do it myself.

It could always be worse. :) I'm just grateful to have my family, a place to live, food to eat, a few basic creature comforts, and the freedom to socialize how I like... every day I'm aware that it could all go up in a puff of smoke, as more and more disabled friends my age get committed to group homes and institutional settings against their will purely because they don't have an ablebodied person to "vouch" for their ability to be independent. I'm building as many safeguards into my life as I can against that, but I do know it could happen, and I do know that the day *will* come that I have to quite literally make that legal case for living on my own... and that the way the law is written, without an ablebodied person to "vouch" for you, you have no case. I could be a billionaire who used no government support systems whatsoever, but one day, knock knock, and if I didn't have a biped to say "it's all good"...

If I had an ablebodied sibling, I wouldn't have to worry about that, cause all they care about is that it's *someone* ablebodied... but since we're both gimpy, I have to line up surrogates, as it were.

I've had cool stuff happen in my life, too... met Paul McCartney, sang at Carnegie Hall, worked lots of interesting jobs, know a lot of interesting (to history, as well as in general) people. Wouldn't trade any of it. It's just that there was a rocky ten years or so in the middle there, and I'm still clawing my way up. :)

If you go the Ultra Sonic rte............do not get one of those with a 3 minute timer, ( like someone I know ( me) ). The 3 minute timer is useless for our purpose, you need the one with 40 minutes or better. Check E-Bay or Harbor Freight

Mine has a 3 minute timer. I've been running it for 30-45 minutes at a time for over 6 months.

You also have to have your number lock on and be using the keypad numbers in order for it to work.

If you're on a laptop that doesn't have a number pad, you have to have number lock on *and* hold down alt and the function key to access the numbers in subscript on the regular keys which are your poor man's number pad.

The latter isn't really worth it unless you're doing quite a lot of foreign language stuff.

Ar an drochuair, nach bhfuil Gaeilge gan sínte fada Gaeilge ar chor ar bith, mar sin fuair mé mear ag rochtain na heochracha.

(Unfortunately, Irish (Gaelic) without fadas (accent marks) is not Irish at all, so I got quick at accessing those keys.)

OH.
Yessiree, just as soon as I find the number lock key I'll be sure to try it.

Thanks, Uncle Ralphie. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel these days, and this time I'm reasonably sure it's not another oncoming train... that's more than I've been able to say for quite a while, so I'm optimistic that the worst is behind me.

So, how do you get to Carnegie Hall?
Someone had to ask!

Know what though? It is when I am still sipping coffee and getting my first fill of nicotine and caffeine
in the morning when I post what the temp is going to be. Most of the time I have a cat on my lap and
if it's a cloudy day it's dark in here. Can ya'all just humor me and pretend to know I meant degrees at
the end of my number??

Morning all..... 36 degrees out ..... A HEAT WAVE:)

Ok, I am trying to figure out how the hell you got 36 degrees there this morning and I had 34 degrees! I'm in Fricken Florida!!! Yes, it can get colder then that, but I mean this is something you don't see EVER, colder in Florida then in Illinois. GeeeeZ, however, we are now at 70 degrees.
