Innovators will keep innovating. I suspect that the largest part of them are artists as well. That being said, when I find the mod that I enjoy the most I may just buy the real deal. IF I can find one. I own a provari but do not take it out and about or to work with me, just because I can drop it and not break it does not mean I want to. I carry an MVP2 for that, if it breaks I can replace it for not much more than turn around shipping and repair from Provape would cost. I like low cost clones for much the same reason, I can easily replace one. I like the GG mods, I would hate to drop one.

I predict you won't go back to silica once you get the hang of cotton :)

wow.. hadda catch up again! 3rd time today

so.. re wicks.. does using cotton rule out the whole dry burn thing? I've been (on my T3s) taking off the flavor wick and dry burning with the silica wick in place.. kinda think I'd be incinerating cotton.. or hemp.. or other natural fibers

ya know.. rainbow sherbert has grown on me.. kinda like the sour yum did. I ended up giving the wild cherry to hubby to mix with his tobacco.. my brain just can't compute most fruit flavors as vapes - banana and johnny chimpo are definite exceptions.

forgot to multi-quote someone.. the caramel candy and cinnamon roll for sticky bun thing.. ummm I get more cinnamon.. maybe stronger cinnamon ... and a maple sort of flavor in the sticky buns.. are my taste buds just wacky or has that recipe been confirmed?

From my little cotton experience, dry burning is a no no. Ruins it.

I take apart all my evod and protanks and throw micro coils with cotton in them. Yes dry burning cotton will kill the wick but it I painlessly easy to take the old cotton wick out, dry burn the coil, and replace with a fresh wick. haven't bought replacement heads in forever.

Yeah I did. One thing I have noticed is that since I vaporize mostly dessert/bakery liquids,I can't eat a lot of sweet stuff anymore. I guess that's a good thing. lol I wonder if Orange Dream Bar would mix well.

Off Topic: So David Tennant is no longer the Doctor. I think this is season 5 or 6. This new guy isn't doing it for me. (Dr. Who). Tennant had way more energy and brought a level of excitement that this new Doctor is lacking. Just sayin'

Also I only did 2 coils. I really need a torch for them..

I'm going to try that Sticky Bun + Orange Dream Bar thing one of these days. Re: DT vs. Matt Smith... Matt grew on me eventually (took a couple years). I think they cast him a bit too young, and Moffat's convoluted scripts didn't help... so it took him a while to get a handle on how to act the material he was being given. By the end, he was good - not great. David Tennant is just in a class all his own as an actor... If you haven't seen Broadchurch yet, check it out. The role couldn't be more different that The Doctor, and yet, he does it just as well. He did *so* well in Broadchurch that Fox decided to recast him in the role for the upcoming US version. (I hope they let him keep his native accent. He does a *very* good non-descript US accent, but American Tennant would just feel odd to me.)

I'm interested to see how Capaldi handles the way Moffat writes. He's got experience Matt didn't have coming into the role, so it could be really good... but Moffat's scripts are always so "throw everything at the wall" that it might be a disaster that has nothing to do with Capaldi. I was happy when Moffat got the showrunning role, but I regretted it within three episodes... Moffat is the kind of writer who tells really good "one shot" stories. If you give him 40-90 minutes of TV time and tell him that it absolutely must have a beginning, a middle, and an end in that time, he does very well. (The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, Blink, Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, and more recently, The Name of The Doctor, which was a brilliant return to form.) When he has to write for a season, though, he insists on viewing it as ten hours of time to tell one story.... and then he panics and throws in everything he can think of. As a result, the overall story ends up confusing (and the payoff is never worth all the random twists and turns), and the individual episodes rarely have any actual plot... they're all in the service of his master plan. It says a lot that The Lodger, the Van Gogh ep and The Beast Below - three of the more watchable Moffat era episodes with the least amount of "Look At My Larger Brilliant Plot That I Can't Tell You About But Look, It's Over Here, Do You See My Brilliant Secret Larger Plot That I'm Not Going To Explain Till Next Year, Do You See It, Do You, Do You?!"... those three episodes were all originally written for Tennant. And I think it shows, because they each contain self-contained, well thought out plots. In The Beast Below, you can even see the seams where Moffatt lopped off the original ending and wrote his own to fit the New Doctor... poor Matt Smith has to do an emotional 180 that makes little sense and makes The Doctor look like the last person the audience would want to travel with. We've had mercurial Doctors before, but it's the out of the blue nature and breakneck *speed* at which Matt has to make that turn in that particular script that makes it terrifying... and because it's Matt's second episode, it was an episode that turned me off Matt-as-the-Doctor for a long time.

So we'll see how Capaldi handles it. He can only work with what he's given, sadly, and Moffat seems obsessed with sacrificing individual episodes in the service of his Big Master Plots that everyone has to wait a year or three to find out about.

To be clear, I *love* TV with an overarching plot... The West Wing had one long continuous plot for seven seasons. But it was not written such that you had to watch for 7 seasons and then the final episode of the series was a giant info-dump of what all these "hints" meant... and each individual episode of TWW did have a cogent plot of its own.

I'm hoping Moffat burns out soon and decides to go do more Sherlock with Bandylegs Cummerbund, or whatever else strikes his fancy that I couldn't possibly care less about.

With cotton, you can still dryburn the *coil*, you just have to remove all the cotton wick first (unlike silica, where dryburning cleans the wick too). I've been using cotton for my top flavor wicks in my tanks for a while now, but I'm not nearly ambitious enough to replace the wick *within* the tank coil with cotton because then I'd have to rip the whole thing apart every time I needed to dryburn the coil (and then pull it apart again to put more cotton in!) That's part of why I'm eying gennys at the moment.

Sticky Bun = Cinnamon Roll + Caramel Candy was confirmed in a recent newsletter - around Black Friday, iirc.

Vanilla Butternut update: Still amazing. Trying to talk myself out of the New Year's sale cause I *really* don't have it to spend right now... but I'm definitely gonna need more of this before too long!

after the inital build with a mirco coil you only have to take the stem off when changing the wick. The micro coils last a pretty long time. of course the first time you make a coil it can be a PITA messing with the metal pin and rubber gromet

I vape a lot of sweet/dark juices, so I have to dryburn my coils about once a day (two days max, but that second day is a pretty lousy vape by about halfway through). My concern with using cotton as the through-wick is trying to rewick the coil with fresh cotton after the dryburn... I don't think I'd have enough room to thread it through without first disassembling the coil head so that I can slide the coil up out of the head enough to get the cotton threaded through.

I'll definitely experiment with it a little before I get a genny, but I'm not sure if I'm up for all that palaver every time I dry burn.

Hai :)
And the wicking and tank solution issssss !get a REO.
Shame on you mdv. Lol

I can afford a REO about never. ;) I'm okay with that though - I quite like my MVP2, and I don't mind messing with wicks and coils - I've got a good system going now. I'm not even sure if I'll like rebuilding on a regular basis - right now I'm only doing five coils once a month or so. Which is why I'm not going to be dropping a ton of money on a genny either... I know I wouldn't be messing with builds, I'd just find something that works and keep it in there as long as possible. :) I'll pick up an AGA or a decent Kraken clone and dip my toe in that way, and save up for a good upgrade if it turns out to be something I like. The one thing I know I can't stand is dripping without a tank... it's okay for testing juices out, but once I know I like it, I want to fill and go.

If I ever get a chance to test run a REO for a few days, it might be something that goes on my "to consider for tax return time" list, but it's not something I want to take the plunge on without trying first.

I wish I would know Sean I just sold my AGA T2s, I woulda have you one

I've been trying to ruminate quietly cause right now I really can't afford any more vape stuff till next month, so I didn't want to get too enabled in the meantime. :D Thanks for the thought though.

That's exactly where I was shopping :) MVP V2 was a consideration also at just $40, but out of stock now. No interrst in a ProVari lol :) I think it's the one button menu system, and the fact that it fires the device to check Ω's that turns me off.

Aww, I missed the conversation last night. :)

Actually I didn't have much to contribute anyways. The only good, high end mods I have are a pair of Provari. Love them. Before I got one my biggest concern was the button system too, but after I had it a day I realized it's actually a plus - not nearly as much button pushing as people want you to believe & the best part, it's harder to set it off/change settings in your pocket.

I'm not a mod collector, so it's highly unlikely I'll get anything else, but I did eye the Semovar which I like now that the latest one came out & I wouldn't mind a pipe mod, but I'm worried about getting one. First the electronics would have to be solid, second I'm a woodworker so I'm very critical of buying anything that once hid inside a tree. I'd notice the tiny details which would drive me nuts. :) Well... even more nuts.

It's such a godsend. Miracle of modern chemistry. :) I've got 7 clones on the way, gonna give each a try, see which I like best. Also an innokin VTR. And SVD.

I love my mixed metals Nemesis clone, I am currently digging the M16 clone I got from 101vape. really cannot go wrong with that mod. My only gripe is that the threads show with a 650 and a fuse and barely fits with a kick in it... I pulled the trigger on a few more Hcigar clones from 101vape today. I could probably get the same ones cheaper from FastTech but meh 101vape ships fast and has decent pricing.
I got the Aqua Clone and the Kracken Clone coming from them as well.
The IGO-W from them right now is a great deal for a good performing dripping atty, the only difference with the IGO-W4 is a better looking cap with slightly bigger air holes. I kinda feel bad about my clone army, but on the other hands I own a Provari, I have paid my bill to quality and innovation.

Wow you guys have really splurged on gear. It hasn't been easy to keep myself from doing the same.

I understand that. They should get their money. I don't dig straight stealing of logos and such, but mechanical designs I've no issue with. It's actually kind of embarrassing to walk around with a clone that has cloned logo/name on it. And, it's unethical.

I agree. I don't mind the idea of clones but they shouldn't clone the name/logo.

I'm a woodworker also and if I ever get all the parts together I want to build myself an e-pipe. I'm thinking I should probably buy a cheap pipe and convert it first for practice before building one from scratch.
