I never listened to a lot of Pie. It sounded rather fattening. I listened to a little bit of Frampton's solo stuff. It was good, but it never really sucked me in like some other stuff. SRV was a legend, though. I've always dug blues, but my real blues love is in more of the Chicago/Detroit style. Muddy, Buddy, Bo, Koko, Otis Rush... Hell even Clapton was influenced by it.

Oh I forgot to mention, a friend of mine is co-hosting her first vaping show tonight at 10p EST (which was the other reason I was really wanting that nap earlier). i'm from New England, we tend to listen more to white boys weened on the blues than the rest of the country.
the thing about the Pie was the Marriott/Frampton relationship. Frampton could play guitar, but he was in a teeny bop band. Marriott could write, but he couldn't play like the session folks brought in on Small Faces albums. he tried to get the guys to let Peter in the band but they refused. Frampton helped Marriott to be a better guitar player and Peter tried to learn from Steve. the best parts of the new box set are the 4 versions of Guilded Splinters. you can hear how far Steve's guitar playing had come, esp in the beginnings where the play in sync. Frampton never was more jazz inspired and that shows on his solo stuff. but with Steve pushing him on, his best work was with the Pie. add Jerry Shirley and Greg Ridley to the mix and you have 1 kicka$$ band. i listen to the first disc of that many times a day. Frampton's guitar falls apart and Steve's mic keeps try to electrocute him. their first attempt at recording in America is turning into a colossal failure. once Steve just embrace's the loss, they turn it up a notch. they disasters and Steve singing about it make it a great show!

Clapton is arguably the most accomplished white boy to play the blues. Not saying the best.
He loves Robert Johnson and pays the utmost respects in Eric Clapton: Sessions for Robert J
It's awesome if you're a Robert J fan. I am. They show it on Palladia sometimes.
I like Clapton and Muddy's Chicago style but I like furious raw blues like Howlin Wolf best.

On another thread some users reporting credit card is not authorizing purchase if it is any kind of ecig product or juice, the card company claiming it is a tobacco product. Anybody here have that problem yet? --Hawk
