before the nap, but maybe after the...meds! View attachment 292516

*swipes that pic and files it away for future use*

From what I understand it's a tank crackin' coil gunkin' little piece of vapin heaven.

coil gunkin.. yep.. tank crackin.. not for me so far. I have it in a T3 mini.. been there (refilled a couple times) for a month or so.. was the black Friday order - one coil change.

and we just dipped below freezing again.. we were up to 34 for an hour.. the well has been tarped.. the big media tank is still puking on the ground even though I have the whole system on bypass (I think) it's a big tank.. maybe it will keep the well from freezing up again tonight *crosses fingers eyes and toes*

it's amazing how many times I wash my hands while cooking.. pitchers for washing up next to the sink just in case.. guess I should fill a few soup pots too.. sigh.. winter blows

I think the freezing temps have messed with my taste buds.. many of my juices taste kind of salty to me today - even my beloved cafe coffee.. cinnamon bun is still good though.

I tell ya ... leave a faucet running (just needs to be a dribble) overnight to keep the water running through the pipes and then they won't burst. Got me through many a cold winters growing up in Buffalo.

I actually keep a space heater in my crawl area underneath with a remote switch for the winter, just for really cold days like these.

I don't know that but I believe it. The system is ...-backwards. They had HUGE funding cuts and lost a bunch of their aides and lunch supervisors. As a result of such poor staffing, the kids were crammed into the lunch room and out of control all the time. I caught a kid about to take his belt off and whip another. Bare in mind I was part of an outside agency, there only to work with MY kid, but since no one else was stopping it...I had to. Then they would get mad and force the entire classes to spend their entire recess sitting on the ground as punishment for their general out-of-controlness. Then they'd have all this pent up energy and it would just be an endless cycle. And the issue was SUPERVISION. They never engaged the kids. Just sent them onto the bare as bones playground and let them do whatever. So...no activities, no supervision. Bad behavior. For which these little kids were not really at fault. Yet they were punished.

i subscribe to the beliefs of John Taylor Gatto. the system may appear to be a snafu, but it is intended to be that way!

EXACTLY.
It's all about their daily attendance if they get paid or not. My kid in grade school had
a bad year one time, where he was pretty sick and caught a lot of stuff. I did everything
right - called the school, got homework, sent notes. Then I got a generic letter from the
school threatening to arrest me for........I forget the term but basically for my kid not
going to school. I came unglued. They got a seven page typed letter - everyone. Since
no one signed it, I sent copies to the principal, school board, superintendent. It had
my phone number, address, email. Begged them to set up an appointment with me.
No one bothered to respond. I keep notes of everything - why he's sick, dates, times
I call the school, who I talk to at the school, what that person said, and copies of the
excuse notes. No problems at high school level thank goodness.

I had this problem too. My kid was getting bullied on the bus and I kept trying to get something done about it. I supported and empowered the mother to write letters, hold meetings, do whatever is necessary. They kept ignoring us. One day it culminated in her literally being stomped on the ground by the two siblings who were bullying her. I was just out of my mind angry. I got the mom on the phone and together we called for a meeting for which the school board, principal and bus company was FINALLY present. Along with a community action committee we got involved. It took that much violence for her to be heard. Now it's different. They have hired parents to help with the supervision on buses and playgrounds. But most parents don't know enough to know what kind of change they can effect in school. And the schools themselves make it really difficult. I'm just grateful I was able to do my small part.

gotta keep those faucets dripping like macaroni said moving water won't freeze....insulate your pipes if you can and definatly know where you're water shut off valve is....along with keeping shades down and not turning down the heat when you go to bed

now that I've bypassed the water system (salt, chlorine and media tanks) leaving a faucet on is ok.. yep.. gonna go do that now
