The Chi-Krack has arrived! It's been inspected and disassembled for a soak, nothing else so far. I'm soaking it cause I really have no idea whether my buddy ever actually used it - it doesn't look like he did, cause the build in it right now is the same as the other stock builds I've seen. I'm positive he never actually disassembled it, so I figure it could use a good soak regardless.
First impressions: This one, at least, is a solid little thing with some good workmanship. It's machined well and etched clearly. It doesn't say Vicious Ant on the bottom. (I actually prefer that, makes me feel slightly less guilty about buying a clone). There are no sharp/irregular edges. The 510 pin makes a good connection and there's no burring in the centerpost. There's no grease that I can see/feel/smell, and since my dad's a welder, I'm pretty well attuned to all of those sensations vis-a-vis machine grease... but since I want to be sure there's no metal shavings anywhere either, it went in the drink anyway. The threading is smooth, as is the air flow control operation. The airflow holes are close enough to uniform for the naked eye, which means they're close enough to uniform for me.
Ironically enough, the worst I can say about it right now is that the stock build (if that's what it is, and I'm 99% sure it is) is *crap*. Since I wasn't planning on leaving it in anyway, that's no big deal, but I was amused at the severe shoddiness of the build... hot spots, uneven coiling, uneven roll on the mesh, etc. If they're going to do that bad of a job, they really shouldn't bother putting a build in, lest a newbie try to vape it like that.
Anyway, like I said, it's all soaking now, so we'll see what I can do with it in a little while.
