The Chi-Krack has arrived! It's been inspected and disassembled for a soak, nothing else so far. I'm soaking it cause I really have no idea whether my buddy ever actually used it - it doesn't look like he did, cause the build in it right now is the same as the other stock builds I've seen. I'm positive he never actually disassembled it, so I figure it could use a good soak regardless.

First impressions: This one, at least, is a solid little thing with some good workmanship. It's machined well and etched clearly. It doesn't say Vicious Ant on the bottom. (I actually prefer that, makes me feel slightly less guilty about buying a clone). There are no sharp/irregular edges. The 510 pin makes a good connection and there's no burring in the centerpost. There's no grease that I can see/feel/smell, and since my dad's a welder, I'm pretty well attuned to all of those sensations vis-a-vis machine grease... but since I want to be sure there's no metal shavings anywhere either, it went in the drink anyway. The threading is smooth, as is the air flow control operation. The airflow holes are close enough to uniform for the naked eye, which means they're close enough to uniform for me.

Ironically enough, the worst I can say about it right now is that the stock build (if that's what it is, and I'm 99% sure it is) is *crap*. Since I wasn't planning on leaving it in anyway, that's no big deal, but I was amused at the severe shoddiness of the build... hot spots, uneven coiling, uneven roll on the mesh, etc. If they're going to do that bad of a job, they really shouldn't bother putting a build in, lest a newbie try to vape it like that.

Anyway, like I said, it's all soaking now, so we'll see what I can do with it in a little while.

That is odd, my Kracken clone came with stock build, no hot spots, mesh tightly and evenly wound, coils even. I always take a pull through the atomizers when I get them to see if I can get a feeling of any kind of oil and boy did I ever. I pulled the stock wicks out and put a flame to one, it burned on its own for a while. I cleaned both and have them in my mech box, it came with two others as well. the machining on mine was fine, the glass tank was stuck to the white orings inside. It took me several days of carefully prying and pulling to get it off, the orings tore with it. One of the screws for negative connections was stripped and the other negative connection was stripped inside. Vendor credited me and told me to throw it away.
I have the tank off and orings replaced with food grade silicone ones. I have the screws upgraded to larger head ones and both holes tapped slightly larger.
Yeah I know, I could have bought a few of the clones with the amount of labor I have into this one. ITS ALIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!!!! Probably going to build it sheathed cable cause I haven't done that in a while and then tear it apart to rebuild with my beloved hand picked cotton :)

i love the line in that song that goes "she wrecked the car and she was sad, and so afraid that i'd be mad...but what the heck". amazing songwriting. View attachment 294901

Sounds country to me. If the dog died that would cinch it.

Originally I believe it was one of those crossover songs......
You know, you could play it on country stations, light rock stations, contemporary, etc.

Speakin' of significant others and surprises....

I am by far the one that doesn't like things sprung on them out of the blue, or put into the position of bein' rushed, oddly I didn't use to get bothered, not exactly sure when the change occurred but now I absolutely hate it...

My wife is the one that does not like to be surprised or rushed. I am and absolute freak when it comes to time. I am 30 minutes early to anything work related and 15 minutes early for anything else. It does not matter what it is, if a random time is put to something my clock starts ticking.

Wife: lets take the dog to the state park this weekend.
Me: Ok sounds great, I want to wake up late so middle of the day ok?
Wife: Sure I would like to get there before 2 or so though.
Me: tick tock tick tock.

Sunday
Wife: Honey it is no big deal why are you pacing in the yard?
Me: Truck is packed, Dog is ready if we do not leave in the next 5 minutes we will be late.
Wife: Don't rush me!
Me: you said 2pm we need to go!
Wife: I dont care when you said middle of the day.
Me: why did you tell me 2pm.
Wife: why does it matter the dog doesn't care.
Me: You said 2pm.
Wife: your crazy!
Me: hey you wanna go out to eat while we are out? :p

Yeah I know... I have been like this all my life though :p

I have about five country songs I can listen to and Devil Went Down To Georgia gets played on the classic rock station here quite a bit, so maybe 4.5 Kenny Rogers accounts for the other four.

I'd say "that's odd," but since the Chinese language apparently has no equivalent for the phrase "quality control," I suspect they're just from two different batches. My tank was a little tough to get off the first time, slightly *stuck* to the white O-rings, but not glued on or anything... I've got really poor grip strength but a pair of rubber coated vice grips did the trick on the first try without any casualties to my person or the gear. :D

I'll probably upgrade both the O-rings and the screws at some point down the line, (and quite possibly the tank too... those spectrum tanks are very nice, and there's a kraken one in the works) but there are no faults that I can find and it's working as intended now that there's a decent build in there, so I'm in no rush.

I've soaked and cleaned mine, rebuilt it 5 times, 5 different ways, even silica wicks.....still metallic tasting. I'm ready to throw in the towel.

My rocket kayfun lite clone puts it to shame.

But it's the principle: I must conquer this.
